We are seeking motivated and intellectually curious legal interns who are eager to build foundational skills and contribute meaningfully to the work of a global legal team. As a Legal Intern you will have the opportunity to learn from seasoned attorneys across S&P Global gain handson experience with real legal matters and deepen your understanding of how a sophisticated inhouse legal department supports business strategy and mitigates risk. This role offers an exceptional environment to grow collaborate and take the first steps toward a successful career in the legal field.

The Team: The Legal Intern will be a member of S&P Globals corporate and business division legal teams which partner with commercial product and business stakeholders by providing practical legal advice to mitigate risk drive enterprise goals and advance key strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Conduct legal research and assist in drafting reviewing and revising legal documents.

  • Support the legal team in reviewing and interpreting laws regulations and case law relevant to S&P Global.

  • Assist with due diligence efforts for transactions and projects.

  • Assist with any other legal matters or projects.

  • Participate in meetings with in-house counsel and business stakeholders as needed.


Compensation/Benefits Information:

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $30 to $35 hourly rate. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individuals geographic location as well as experience level skill set training licenses and certifications.

This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What Were Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a 1L or 2L in a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Strong record of high academic achievement with an interest in corporate commercial and regulatory law.

  • Excellent legal research writing analytical interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Intellectual curiosity with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage deadlines effectively

  • Foundational understanding of AI concepts and enthusiasm for exploring how legaltech and AI tools can support attorneys by accelerating research enhancing drafting improving knowledge management and reducing manual workload. Interest in developing practical awareness of how AI can be applied within a modern inhouse legal department.

  • Candidates must be fully available to work in a hybrid role in New York for the duration of the internship (June 1 2026 to August 7 2026).

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with financial services data analytics or technology industries is a plus

  • Experience with intellectual property or technology agreements is a plus.
