Job Summary
We are hiring on behalf of our client a global innovator in fitness and wellness technology. Their mission is to empower people to live fit strong long and happy lives by delivering integrated experiences to millions of members anytime anywhere.
As a Database Reliability Engineer you will join the Platform team responsible for designing and operating a highly available secure and performant data persistence layer used by application services across the organization. Guided by three core principles protect the data optimize for scale and reliability and eliminate toil the team partners closely with service owners to enable autonomous self-sufficient engineering teams.
In this role you will work on data protection automation observability and performance optimization across a broad range of datastore technologies helping the organization scale globally while maintaining exceptional reliability.

Recruitment process:
- A call with Motife recruiter (30 min)
- Interview with the Hiring Manager (1h)
- Interviews panel (Debugging / break-fix style scenarios database optimization and architecture data modeling and system design; up to 3h in total)
Responsibilities:
Datastore Reliability & Scalability
- Maintain operate and scale production datastores and databases in collaboration with service owners
- Ensure high availability low latency and reliability of the data persistence layer supporting critical services
- Support global multi-regional data strategies to enable international scale
Automation & Platform Enablement
- Design and implement automation for datastore provisioning using Infrastructure as Code
- Reduce operational toil by enabling self-service database provisioning through internal platforms and tooling
- Improve autoscaling strategies to handle traffic spikes during large-scale events
Observability & Performance
- Build and enhance observability around databases including metrics alerts and query-level insights
- Support teams with SQL query optimization and performance tuning
- Enable autonomous teams to manage and optimize their own datastores through actionable insights
Developer Experience
- Develop internal tooling that improves the databases as a service experience
- Partner closely with application and platform engineers to understand needs and remove friction
- Promote best practices around data protection modeling and system design
Requirements:
Database & Infrastructure Experience
- 23 years of hands-on experience running PostgreSQL in production cloud environments (preferably AWS)
- Exposure to managed datastores such as DynamoDB Elasticache Memcache or graph databases
- Experience designing and maintaining automation around infrastructure provisioning (Terraform preferred)
Engineering & Problem Solving
- Strong understanding of both structured and unstructured database technologies
- Experience with data modelling and backend system design
- Pragmatic engineering mindset with a strong focus on reliability security and quality
Collaboration & Mindset
- Self-motivated and passionate about building stable secure systems
- Systematic problem-solver with strong communication and collaboration skills
- Comfortable partnering with multiple teams and driving shared ownership
