Job Summary
We are hiring on behalf of our client a global innovator in fitness and wellness technology. Their mission is to empower people to live fit strong long and happy lives by delivering integrated experiences to millions of members anytime anywhere.
As a Database Reliability Engineer you will join the Platform team responsible for designing and operating a highly available secure and performant data persistence layer used by application services across the organization. This role is ideal for Database Engineers SREs DevOps Engineers Backend Engineers with strong database exposure who want to deepen their expertise in database reliability at scale.
You will work alongside experienced platform engineers and receive ongoing support and knowledge-sharing to grow your database reliability skillset.
Guided by three core principles protect the data optimize for scale and reliability and eliminate toil the team partners closely with service owners to enable autonomous self-sufficient engineering teams.

Recruitment process:

- Interviews panel (Debugging / break-fix style scenarios database optimization and architecture data modeling and system design; up to 3h in total)
Responsibilities:
Datastore Reliability & Scalability
- Operate and scale production relational and non-relational datastores in AWS
- Ensure high availability low latency and reliability of critical systems
- Support zero-downtime upgrades patching and maintenance
- Contribute to multi-region and global data strategies
Debugging & Performance
- Investigate and resolve database performance and reliability issues
- Support teams with query optimization and configuration tuning
- Help design scalable data models and capacity strategies
Automation & Platform Engineering
- Automate provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code
- Improve observability and monitoring around database systems
- Identify recurring patterns and turn them into reusable tooling or services
- Reduce operational toil through scripting and automation
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Partner with backend engineers to guide schema evolution and datastore choices
- Act as a reliability advisor for teams launching new services
- Contribute to building a databases as a service mindset across engineering
Requirements:
- 24 years of experience operating production systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) in production
- Familiarity with non-relational datastores (DynamoDB OpenSearch Redis etc.)
- Experience debugging production incidents and reasoning about performance issues
- Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals
- Exposure to automation and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform is a plus)
