SUMMARY: The Squaxin Island Child Development Center Lead Teacher will provide classroom instruction support and a nurturing environment for all children that provides optimal social emotional intellectual development and kindergarten readiness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plan supervise and implement a specific age group of young children.
Provide an integrated developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets the developmental needs of the specific group and individual child.
Assist children with self-help and social emotional skills.
Utilize and promote positive guidance techniques.
Assess childrens needs and developmental progress on an ongoing basis and apply to curriculum.
Promote a climate of respect for each childs personality culture language family structure and developmental needs and behaviors.
Model and provide direction and guidance for the classroom team (i.e. assistant teacher aides and volunteers)
Facilitate positive and productive relationships with families.
Maintain daily weekly and monthly records with regards to attendance communication with families curriculum health and nutrition in electronic data bases.
Adhere to all safety and health guidelines.
Participates in ongoing professional development including coursework staff meetings parent meetings and TSG reliable.
Always maintains confidentiality regarding children families and staff.
Positively project the center mission goals philosophies and policies to parents staff and the community.
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Can effectively speak with parents about their childs development and to write correspondences to families.
Can read and interpret documents such as curriculum materials assessments safety rules and procedure manuals.
Basic computer skills ability to collect enter and use data bases to track monitor and report child development
Experience with observations curriculum development and assessment of young children.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Have an AA degree in Early Childhood or a related field and 1year experience working with young children in a learning environment. OR High School Diploma and 3 years experience working with young children in a learning environment. Must be comfortable working with children age birth to five. Must be 18 at least years old.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals
financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management public groups and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents logarithms quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution determination of test reliability and validity analysis of variance correlation techniques sampling theory and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands of a Lead Teacher are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
