Nutrition Worker -6 hours/day
Summary:
The Nutrition Worker is responsible for preparing and serving nutritional meals to students and staff in the assigned school.
Essential Functions:
- Perform daily duties to include preparing food items washing chopping mixing cooking assembling recipe items and preparing for service serving meals to customers running the cash register cleaning the kitchen and equipment and washing dishes pots utensils etc.
- Prepare food within proper food safety and sanitation procedures
- Move and lift items and assist with the stocking of delivery items to storage units
- Follow proper sanitation and safe food handling procedures
- Serve assist and help customers
- Meet customer needs
- Attend designated meetings and training classes
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Nutrition Services
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
Must work in a cafeteria setting; demonstrate positive customer service skills; ability to use kitchen equipment and small wares to prepare and serve food in a safe and sanitary manner; ability to follow recipe and/or instructions to prepare the food; ability to count money and use a cash register
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Some knowledge or experience in quantity food preparation is preferred.
Physical Conditions and Nature of Work:
Work typically is in a school cafeteria setting with a kitchen serving line and storage areas. Extended periods of standing are required. Frequent bending and lifting of food containers food and pots weighing 10-30 pounds is required. Occasional bending and lifting up to 45 pounds of items such as cases of food may be required. Use of institutional kitchen equipment such as ovens slicers steamers dish machine and similar items is expected. Occasional exposure to damp floors steam from equipment and potentially caustic cleaning materials is necessary. Daily contact with the principal school staff teachers and students is necessary. Occasional contact is made with visitors and the general public.
Evaluation:
The Nutrition Worker is evaluated by the Nutrition Manager.
