Job Summary

Summary
The General Education Teacher is responsible for planning delivering and assessing
high-quality instruction that promotes student learning growth and achievement. The
teacher creates a positive classroom environment establishes effective relationships with
students and families and collaborates with colleagues to support the educational goals
of the district. Instruction is aligned with the Missouri Learning Standards and the Scott County R-IVComprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP).

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential
duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The individual who holds this position has the responsibility to:

  • Provide instruction that supports student mastery of the Missouri Learning Standards.
  • Plan and prepare engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that address diverse learner needs.
  • Use effective instructional strategies technology and resources to enhance learning.
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records and provide feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with varied abilities backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Establish and maintain standards of classroom behavior that create a safe respectful and productive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress concerns and successes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in grade-level or content-area teams and participate in professional learning communities.

General Education Classroom Teacher

  • Participate in curriculum development professional development and staff meetings.
  • Supervise students in the classroom hallways cafeterias playgrounds assemblies and during other assigned duties.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development and reflection.
  • Uphold district policies procedures and staff handbooks.
  • Support CSIP goals by focusing on student achievement continuous improvement and positive school culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

Supervisory Duties

  • The General Education Teacher has supervisory responsibility over students and may provide direction to paraprofessionals aides or volunteers assigned to their classroom.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Education required.
  • Masters Degree in Education or related field preferred.

Certificates Licenses Registrations

  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in the appropriate subject/grade level preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of content and pedagogy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan organize and deliver engaging instruction.
  • Classroom management and student motivation skills.

General Education Classroom Teacher

  • Ability to integrate technology effectively into instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and the districts CSIP.

Physical Demands

  • Is regularly required to stand walk sit hear speak and see at close moderate and distance ranges.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move instructional materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Must meet deadlines with time constraints and manage multiple tasks.
  • Occasionally works extended hours for meetings events or grading.

Attendance
Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

Conditions and Environment
The individual who occupies this position will regularly work in a typical classroom
environment. Rarely the individual may be required to supervise students outdoors in
temperatures above 100 degrees or below freezing.


Terms of Employment: Salary and work year established by the Board of Education.
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated at least annually in accordance with Board Policy.
