Job Summary

SUMMARY: Sheridan School District is looking for motivated elementary teacher for Faulconer-Chapman a K-8 school. The ideal applicant must be able to:

Establish effective rapport with students;
Motivatestudents to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary education in accordance with each students ability;
Create aneffectiveelementaryclassroomenvironment favorable to learning and personal growth;
Establishcollaborative relationships with parents and with other staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Oregon Teaching License with proper endorsement.
Training in elementary education with specialization in elementary education.
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice strategies.
Ability to plan strategies to meet school and district goals.
Experience as a primary teacher is desirable.
Demonstrated abilities (written/or oral) to plan classroom instruction around district philosophy goals and learner outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaches district approved curriculum.
Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters notes phone calls conferences etc.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
Evaluates students academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
Plans and coordinates the work of Instructional Assistants parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays interest centers and exhibits of students work.
Other duties as assigned.
