SUMMARY: Sheridan School District is looking for motivated elementary teacher for Faulconer-Chapman a K-8 school. The ideal applicant must be able to:
- Establish effective rapport with students;
- Motivatestudents to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary education in accordance with each students ability;
- Create aneffectiveelementaryclassroomenvironment favorable to learning and personal growth;
- Establishcollaborative relationships with parents and with other staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Oregon Teaching License with proper endorsement.
- Training in elementary education with specialization in elementary education.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice strategies.
- Ability to plan strategies to meet school and district goals.
- Experience as a primary teacher is desirable.
- Demonstrated abilities (written/or oral) to plan classroom instruction around district philosophy goals and learner outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaches district approved curriculum.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters notes phone calls conferences etc.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluates students academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Plans and coordinates the work of Instructional Assistants parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
- Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays interest centers and exhibits of students work.
- Other duties as assigned.
