Data Governance Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Project Manager to lead and deliver strategic initiatives that strengthen our enterprise data foundation. Based in Arlington VA you will serve as the operational backbone of our Data Governance program coordinating cross-functional efforts to improve data quality documentation and compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex data programs working with diverse stakeholders and ensuring successful project outcomes in a regulated environment.

What you will do:

• Project Delivery: Manage end-to-end delivery of data governance initiatives including the implementation of Atlan data catalog metadata management data quality management sensitive data management and more.
• Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed project plans and roadmaps for priority domains ensuring alignment with the Data Councils strategic goals.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary coordinator for Data Stewards and executive leadership facilitating meetings and ensuring clear communication across business and IT teams.
• Risk & Compliance: Identify data-related risks and ensure all projects adhere to regulatory requirements (such as GLBA FCRA and ECOA) and internal governance standards.
• AI Initiative Tracking: Coordinate and track the execution of AI-related governance tasks ensuring explainability and quality standards are met for machine learning models.
• Reporting: Provide regular status updates dashboards and maturity metrics to senior leadership to demonstrate program value and progress.

What we are looking for:

• Experience: 10 years in project management with at least 5 years specifically leading Data Governance Data Quality or Master Data Management (MDM) projects.
• Certifications: PMP or equivalent required; Agile/Scrum and Data Management (CDMP) certifications preferred.
• Tools: Expertise in JIRA MS Project or Smartsheet; familiarity with Data Catalog tools (Atlan Alation Collibra) is a significant plus.
• Industry Knowledge: Experience in BFSI (Banking Financial Services and Insurance) or highly regulated lending environments.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership facilitation and communication skills with the ability to influence without authority.

Additional Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Business Administration Information Systems or a related field.
• Location: Arlington VA (Hybrid)
• Experience: 10 years of professional project management experience.

• Competitive Base SalaryRange of $96300-$154400 Kapitus is providing this as a good faith salary range to comply with applicable law. The applicants final salary will depend on a number of factors including the applicants geographic location skills and experience.
