Job Summary

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum five (5) years of full-time experience in the field.
  3. Possession of an OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour card.
  4. Teaching experience preferred.
  5. Construction Craft Labor Vocational Technical certification from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
    1. Passing score of at least 70% on each test (written test and performance test) for the Construction Craft Laborer License.
    2. Passing score on either the Vocational Literacy Skills Test or the Communications and Literacy Skills Test.

Reports to: Principal/Deputy-Director and Vocational Deans

Summary of Job Description: The Construction Craft Labor Instructor will develop and teach a competency-based curriculum to provide classroom theory and hands-on application to prepare students for entry-level positions in the Construction Craft Labor field. The instructor will also develop review and revise instructional materials as necessary and will evaluate student progress and establish objectives to facilitate maximum learning potential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan organize and provide appropriate learning experiences within the assigned area of responsibility.
  2. Teach technical skills and knowledge to equip students with the competence to excel in their field.
  3. Develop lesson plans and organize class time so that demonstration instruction hands-on practice review and final activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
  4. Continuously improves instruction curriculum and equipment to ensure this CTVE area is current with all trends in the field and fully prepares students for available and emerging jobs.
  5. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  6. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  7. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
  8. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  9. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons units and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
  10. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
  11. Implements the districts mission philosophy of education and instructional standards and objectives.
  12. Assesses and documents the accomplishments of students regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  13. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  14. Attends staff and department meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  15. Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy regulation.
  16. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure maintaining order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  17. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  18. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence especially as relates to the specific assignment and student grade and subject area appropriateness.
  19. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with others.
  20. Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students colleagues and parents concerning both the broad academic/vocational and behavioral progress of assigned students.
  21. Develop positive relationships with Construction Craft Labor community partners in the area and actively solicit their help including service on the Program Advisory Board.
  22. Other duties deemed necessary by the Superintendent/Director or designee.

Evaluation: Evaluated in accordance with the DESE Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice and the current Northeast Teachers Association Contract.

Terms of Employment:

  1. 184-day work year
  2. Salary and benefits in accordance with the current NTA Contract

Pay Range: $68052.53-$103385.72
