The purpose of this role is to manage and develop IWAs Community Centre services for people with physical and sensory disability and develop a range of new services in the area. To ensure the long-term integration of people with physical disability into all aspects of Irish society through the appropriate use of a person-centered the successful implementation of this role there are several key relationships which should be fostered and developed. Internally there will be a high level of interaction with associated IWA staff members and volunteers. Externally a high level of promotional contact will need to be established and developed with the HSE local authorities community groups and any other relevant statutory or voluntary agencies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Implement the service models in the Community Centre services

Support the implementation of person-centered processes within the Community Centre services

Implement and develop in consultation with members a range of new programmes/services that support participation and independence in the community meeting current and unmet needs

Conduct needs assessments risk assessments and training needs analysis in partnership with people using the service.

Plan monitor and review services through identified needs and develop the strengths of these programmes within the confines of service plans.

Manage and lead the staff in a manner that facilitates team building and supports the development of staff to meet the standards required by the Association.

Manage the training and development of staff volunteers and members which will result in the enhancement of services delivered by the Association.

Effectively manage and maximise the utilisation of budgets.

Effectively manage the buildings and transport resources attached to the services

Ensure services provided are in keeping with IWA Standards of Practice.

Develop and foster working relationships and communications with both statutory and voluntary agencies.

Recruit and manage volunteers to assist with services where appropriate.

Ensure services provided are in keeping with IWA Standards of Practice.

Build on the capacity of people using the service to play a full and active part in project activities.

Promote positive awareness of disability in the community.

Ensure that your responsibilities to safeguard children and adults from abuse or harm is a core aspect of your role and that IWAs Safeguarding Policies and Procedures are adhered to.

Ensure compliance with IWAs Parent and Ancillary Safety Statements and any legislative duties set out in current Health and Safety and Fire Safety Legislation

Any other duties as assigned to you from time to time

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Training Experience and Qualifications

A degree at QQI Level 8 or professional qualification in one of the following disciplines: Applied Social Studies/Registered Nurse/ Social Worker / Community Work and/or General Management is essential

Several years of people management experience is essential including previous experience of working within the disability sector or similar services

Knowledge and Skills

Computer literate including use of databases and Microsoft Office suite is essential

A full driving license and own car are essential

Strong communication creativity problem solving and decision-making skills

Excellent negotiation and influencing skills

Experience of working with people with disabilities or a marginalised group
