I. PRINCIPAL FUNCTION To advocate for students and monitor and provide for the welfare morale and discipline of the male students. To manage the primary functions of the dormitory and enforce school policy and procedures on all on campus students. To work to create and protect a healthy campus atmosphere essential to achieving spiritual personal and academic development. To assist the Student Affairs Team with student leadership training and activities. To partner with the VP of Academic and Student Affairs as directed. II. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES - To perform all duties in a professional Christ-like manner.
- To have a thorough understanding of the Student Handbook.
- To assist in the preparation of the annual Student Handbook and all other student manuals.
- To be available and present for students on campus within regular day-time class hours.
- To help coordinate and assist in leading Student Leadership training sessions before each semester.
- To assist in managing the cleanliness order and upkeep of campus facilities and grounds through partnering with the proper channels.
- To assist in making recommendations regarding the student affairs portion of the budget.
- To teach a limited course load in the College commensurate with administrative responsibilities.
- To assist the Student Affairs Events Coordinator with student body activities as needed.
- To attend as many of the student body activities and athletic events as possible.
- To assist in communicating on campus notifications.
- To serve as a member of the Leadership Council and be available to advise the Chapel Planning Team as needed.
- To prepare annual reports relative to student affairs addressed to the VP of Academic and Student Affairs.
- To perform other duties as assigned in keeping with the principal function of the Dean of Men.
III. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES - To Manage the Principal Functions of the Male Residence Hall:
- To oversee the Deans Assistant (DA) Resident Assistants (RAs) and Community Assistants (CAs) and to ensure they understand their responsibilities within the dorm; to hold accountable empower and support them.
- To coordinate and lead weekly meetings with the male DA RAs and CAs. To have one-on-one meetings with them as needed. To assist in coordinating and leading a bi-weekly meeting with the Dean of Women and female leadership team.
- To manage the administrative side of the dorms function with the help of the DA.
- To assign each male resident student a room in the Residence Hall with the aid of the DA.
- To oversee the DA and RAs as they check students in and out of the Residence Halls at the beginning and end of each academic semester/year.
- To oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the dorm by monitoring needs (with the help of the DA and RAs) and by submitting work orders and ensuring they are completed.
- To conduct weekly room inspections to ensure cleanliness and wellbeing with the help of the DA and RAs.
- To monitor the Curfew Notification system.
- To help coordinate dorm tours with the admissions team.
- To advocate for students needs within the dorm.
- To ensure Residence Halls policies are being followed as outlined in the Student Handbook.
- To Oversee and Enforce Discipline for Violations as Outlined in the Student Handbook:
- To apply wisdom when disciplining.
- To work closely with the DA RAs Security Dean of Women and VP of Academic and Student Affairs to identify and address issues early.
- To mentor the DA & RAs in addressing violations levels 2-4.
- To lead in administering discipline to male students levels 4-6.
- To organize and serve as a member of the Disciplinary Council levels 5-6.
- To advocate for male students needing support for violations of the Student Handbook.
- To keep careful disciplinary records of violations in Populi.
- To keep the VP of Academic and Student Affairs informed of pertinent information in a timely manner.
- To Create Opportunities for Spiritual and Character Development and Participate in Discipling Male Students:
- To be available for one-on-one discipleship and counselling with male students and to relay the opportunity to meet with our school counsellors as needed.
- To train Student Mentor Leaders and facilitate mentorship opportunities for them with staff and faculty.
- To assist in organizing Mentor Groups and ensure there productivity.
- To ensure administrative tasks are complete with the help of the DA.
- To assist the Student Body Officers Chaplain with SBO chapels as needed.
- To coordinate all aspects of the Guest Speaker and Split Chapels including scheduling the line-up of speakers being present to facilitate transitions and managing attendance.
Iv. job requirements A. Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited or recognized institution required preferably in field related to ministry counseling or education. B. Specialized Training/Skills: - Must possess good leadership organizational and people skills
- Training in basic computer skills required
- Training in Populi and other college databases will be provided
C. Experience: Managerial experience in education and ministry is preferred. D. Physical Competencies: - Must be able to handle set-up and tear-down for special events and activities as needed.
- Extensive walking may be required
