What you will be doing:
The Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office (AMCO) are seeking a highly motived and adaptable employee to join our team as a Licensing Examiner 2. Under the direction of the Alcohol Licensing Supervisor you will be responsible for reviewing alcohol and/or marijuana applications for Board approval as well as fielding customer service calls from licensees the public government agencies attorneys and legislative representatives. Additionally you will be assisting with different aspects of the board meetings and gain working knowledge of statutes and regulations for both alcohol and marijuana programs in order to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and assist with the ongoing transition and implementation of the new licensing system AK-ACCIS.

The position is part of a seven-person licensing examiner team located in downtown Anchorage in the Robert B. Atwood Building which has a spectacular view of the inlet close to the Delaney Park strip and within walking distance of various popular restaurants.

AMCO is looking for a candidate who possesses some or all of the following competencies:

  • Reading Comprehension: Understands and interprets written material including technical material rules regulations instructions reports charts graphs or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations.

  • Self-Management: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative effort and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Examining and processing license applications; interpreting and applying established criteria rules regulations policies and procedures; researching State and federal laws and regulations; preparing written communication detailing examinations made discrepancies noted and corrections needed; and/or responding to difficult customers with tact and diplomacy.

Additional Required Information

At time of interview applicant(s) are requested to submit:

  • Post-secondary transcripts if using to meet the minimum qualifications.
  • Last three (3) performance evaluations.
  • Three (3) Professional references who have had supervisory responsibility over you along with their daytime contact information.
EDUCATION
If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position. Transcripts can be attached at the time of application or provided at the time of interview.

WORK EXPERIENCE
If using work experience not already documented in your application also provide the employer name your job title dates of employment and whether full-or part-time. Applications will be reviewed to determine if the responses are supported and minimum qualifications are clearly met.
