High-School English Instructor

Seeking a fulltime 9-12^thgrade English instructor August 2026 at Liberty Common High School in Fort Collins Colorado a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to college-preparatory instruction. The school currently enrolls over 340 high-school students.

LCHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching 1) a contextual body of organized knowledge 2) the skills of learning and 3) the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice partnership with teachers and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort.

The English instructor has responsibility for program planning curriculum development and delivery of English instruction in cooperation with the schools existing English Department and Libertys elementary school. Courses taught may include Western Literature Composition AP Language and Composition other core courses and English electives. All courses taught include the study of literature reading writing vocabulary and grammar. Applicants should be dedicated to a strong skills and knowledge-based curriculum and dedicated to high student achievement.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular Full-Time

WORK HOURS: 20 hours per week

COMPENSATION: $50000-$80000

REPORTS TO: Principal

REVISION DATE: January 2026

Minimum Requirements

• Desire and willingness to learn about Libertys history and philosophy and to uphold and promote the mission and values of the school.
• Bachelors degree.
• Experience in education and school administration preferably in a charter school.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a team.
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

• Understanding of Liberty Common Schools history and a commitment to maintaining and promoting the schools mission and values.
• Experience with English instruction the Core Knowledge Curriculum and demonstrated ability in teaching this curriculum.
• Bachelors degree or higher. Five or more years of experience in school leadership professional classroom teacher school administration or equivalent private-sector experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a professional team.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to maneuver uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to carry or transfer up to 20lbs. of supplies frequently.
• Must be able to work in occasionally loud environments.
• Must be able to frequently use office technology including computers copiers and printers.
