Payroll & Human Resources Specialist

North Marion School District is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll & HR Specialist to support district operations by ensuring accurate payroll processing effective administration of employee benefits and human resources support. This role is a vital part of our business services team working collaboratively with district leadership and staff to ensure employees are paid accurately on time and receive clear support related to their benefits and employment.

The ideal candidate is organized discreet and customer-service oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy compliance and supporting staff through responsive and professional service.

Key Responsibilities

• Process district payroll accurately and on schedule in compliance with federal state and district requirements.
• Administer employee benefits including enrollments changes and terminations.
• Manage employee leave in compliance with bargaining agreements and legal requirements
• Support onboarding of new employees by coordinating payroll setup benefits enrollment and required documentation.
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll benefit and human resources records.
• Respond to employee questions regarding pay deductions leave and benefits with professionalism and customer-focused service.
• Prepare required reports reconciliations and filings related to payroll benefits and retirement systems.
• Responsible for accurate contracts pay rates and employment status changes in applicable systems.
• Support audits and ensure compliance with applicable laws contracts and district policies.

Qualifications

• Bilingual - Spanish Speaking Preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or experience in payroll accounting or human resources preferred.
• Significant experience with payroll processing and/or benefits administration strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll regulations benefits systems and confidential recordkeeping practices.
• Strong attention to detail organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills and a commitment to professional customer-focused service.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality while working collaboratively with diverse staff and stakeholders.
