About Our Summer Camp
Our co-ed summer camp offers a thoughtfully designed program where campers from the New Orleans area (rising K to rising 7th grade) can explore connect and grow through meaningful summer experiences. Rooted in community and guided by intentional programming our camp balances structured activities with moments of creativity collaboration and outdoor play. Camp days are varied and engaging with opportunities for hands-on projects group games time outside and shared experiences that build confidence and connection among campers and counselors alike.
This summer we will host campers on our campus for nine weeks in June and July. We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic team members who are eager to contribute to a positive camp culture support campers with care and consistency and help bring our summer programming to life.
Position Description
As a Junior Counselor youll be working with a Lead Counselor and an Assistant Counselor to create a joyful welcoming environment as campers as they engage in hands-on activities like art projects outdoor games team challenges and imaginative play designed to match their age and interests.
You will help with activity setup transitions and daily routines and support your co-counselors as needed.
As a Junior Counselor you play a vital role in shaping positive camp experiencessupporting campers and co-counselors to help ensure each day is fun safe and memorable. It is a great way to learn what it means to work at camp!
Essential Functions:
- Interact with campers with calm confidence providing consistent boundaries encouraging positive behavior and supporting group cooperation through positive guidance.
- Foster a welcoming inclusive classroom environment by modeling warm respectful interactions and building strong trusting relationships with campers and coworkers.
- Communicate effectively with fellow counselors and campers.
- Assist in maintaining awareness of campers locations and well-being throughout the day.
- Follow licensing procedures throughout the day.
- Attend all required training sessions and complete certification courses as required.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Must be at least 14 years of age. (Required)
- Ability to complete training. (Required)
- Strong communication skills including respectful and professional interactions. (Required)
- Ability to collaborate with a team take direction and contribute to a positive inclusive environment. (Required)
- Demonstrate organizational skills as well as professional written and oral skills. (Required)
Availability:
- Camp will run from June 1 2026 - July 31 2026.
- Junior counselors are expected to work a minimum of one full week of camp. Priority will be given to those available to work all nine weeks of summer camp.
- During the application process you will be asked to indicate which weeks you are available to work. You should be available to work all the days of that week from 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
- Junior counselors should be available to attend training for at least one day between May 26 - May 29 regardless of which weeks of camp you are working.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Able to frequently work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods throughout the day.
- Frequently moves around outdoor play spaces and activity areas; must be able to position oneself at child level (e.g. sitting kneeling or squatting on the ground).
- Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to a variety of physical and behavioral situations involving children.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; must be able to bend stoop reach climb stairs sit on the ground and move about a large campus.
- Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
