Description of Work

This position completes the educational evaluation of post-secondary education completed by the child care workforce which includes a review of the required certifications degrees/semester credit hours based on course content/descriptions and determines the educational qualifications for 10 different child care position(s) (Both NC Pre-K and non-NC Pre-K) specified by DCDEE/Section/Unit law rule policy and procedures.
This position collaborates with internal/external stakeholders to meet the needs of the child care workforce by ensuring they meet statutory and rule requirements related to education standards and DCDEEs licenses for all licensed child care facilities. Assists internal/external DCDEE customers with questions regarding education requirements. Provides feedback to manager concerning DCDEE WORKS and Scribbles issues within the Unit. Completes testing of DCDEE WORKS etc. databases to verify work processes and functionality of the system(s). Supports the Unit by completing mail intake for the Workforce Education Unit Initial/Final data entry for all education documentation received from the child care workforce. Individual Bonus Reporting. Answers Workforce Education Unit phone calls/emails including DCDEE Webmaster and DCDEE WORKS Technical Assistance for both internal/external customers and other DCDEE WORKS tasks if applicable. Understanding of all Unit processes. Requires excellent attention to detail accurate verbal and written abilities and proficient customer service skills. Requires working knowledge of specific confidentiality guidelines on related laws/rules/regulations to assist child care providers in understanding procedures specific to child care education standards.

Salary Range: $39671 - $69426

Recruitment Range: $39671 - $49234

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred.

  • Experience implementing confidentiality guidelines on related laws/rules/regulations to assist child care providers in understanding procedures specific to child care education.
  • Advanced experience using a desktop/laptop computer Microsoft software applications (Word Excel Outlook) databases and electronic filing system to complete work processes.
  • Experience processing applications with a high degree of accuracy and the adaptability/flexibility to handle changes in both workloads and assignments. Knowledge and experience with analyzing problem solving and interpreting data to include database testing.
  • Experience communicating in both oral and written form describing complex issues in easily understandable format and providing courteous customer service.

This position is 100% federally funded.

The Division of Child Development and Early Education: ensures quality health and safety standards for childcare serving as a regulatory body licensor and administrator for early childhood programs.
