Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your community and supporting public safety Linn County is recruiting to fill two positions for dedicated motivated Adult Parole and Probation Officers to join our team in Albany Oregon.
*Note: Effective Feb. 1 2026 this position will receive a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase of 2.5% and an additional 4.0% COLA effective January 1 2027. These increases are not reflected in the salary range listed in this posting.
As an Adult Parole and Probation Officer you will manage felony parole and probation correctional cases. You will assess the needs of those on parole or probation assigned by the courts or Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision. You will identify services to support those on parole or probation with their rehabilitation and readjustment into society. You will monitor their behavior and ensure compliance with their case plan. You will investigate and take appropriate action to address supervision violations as needed.
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill multiple vacancies.
This position is represented by the Federation of Oregon Parole and Probation Officers.
A bachelors degree; AND two (2) years of experience working in a Criminal Justice setting; or two (2) years in a social service counseling or case management program with primary responsibility for guiding or counseling individuals in the solution of occupational educational personal or social problems; OR
Successful completion of two (2) academic years (90 quarter hours or the equivalent) from an accredited college or university; AND three (3) years of experience working in a Criminal Justice setting; OR three (3) years in a social service counseling or case management program with primary responsibility for guiding or counseling individuals in the solution of occupational educational personal or social problems.
Employees are required to receive certification by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training in Basic Probation and Parole within eighteen months of hire.
Employees must maintain an appropriate Oregon State driver license to drive a vehicle in usual and emergency situations.
Employees will be required to carry a firearm and must obtain and maintain a qualifying score with their agency assigned firearm.
Applicants who have a Parole and Probation Officer intermediate certification from Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training will receive an additional 3% and those who possess an advanced certificate will receive an additional 6%.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience and education related to community corrections criminal justice or law enforcement.
The position may involve working in adverse weather conditions and require physical tasks such as climbing navigating rough terrain and potentially restraining combative individuals. Direct contact with adults on supervision who may become hostile is expected. The role also includes assisting with security measures in emergencies working irregular hours and some travel. A valid drivers license with a good driving record is required. You will be required to carry a firearm and must obtain and maintain a qualifying score with their agency assigned firearm.

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position.
