Responsibilities:
- Assist with the month-end close process including calculating accruals preparing recurring and adjusting journal entries and correcting entries as needed.
- Analyze the general ledger to ensure accuracy completeness and compliance with financial reporting standards.
- Research and resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders three-way matching costs applied to service calls and percentage-of-completion compared to job forecasts.
- Collaborate with the Accounting team to maintain effective internal controls that safeguard company assets mitigate financial risk and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare and file sales tax reports for all company entities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reconcile bank statements and investigate variances.
- Support audits by collecting organizing and providing required documentation to the Assistant Comptroller.
- Prepare maintain and organize documentation related to sales tax audits.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work additional hours as business needs require.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Skills Required:
- Ability to effectively multi-task prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial tools with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Working knowledge and experience with sales and use tax requirements particularly within a contractor or construction environment.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting financial statements to support accurate reporting and informed decision-making.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including importing data applying formulas and formatting reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with vendors managers and team members.
- Experience with Great Plains and Epicor/Prophet 21 is preferred.
Education and/or Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree with a major in Accounting or Finance
- 10 years of accounting experience
