Join a leading local authority as Head of Service Street Scene and Leisure and shape the future of Waste Management and Clean & Green Services.
This high-profile role combines strategic leadership with operational impact delivering compliance commercial growth and excellent services for the Boroughs communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Waste Management Services including domestic and commercial collections disposal contracts and the Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
- Direct Clean & Green Services covering burials street cleansing arboriculture parks open spaces and grounds maintenance.
- Ensure statutory compliance as a Waste Disposal Authority including health safety and environmental regulations.
- Manage budgets income streams and commercial opportunities to deliver value for money.
- Oversee procurement and performance of external contractors addressing non-compliance and service issues.
- Develop policies strategies and procedures aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Foster partnerships with public private and third-sector organisations to enhance service delivery.
- Manage complaints Member enquiries and public consultations effectively.
- Deputise for the Chief Officer as required and prepare reports for Members Cabinet and senior stakeholders.
- Lead motivate and develop high-performing teams fostering innovation and collaboration.
- Promote equality diversity and inclusion and ensure health safety and statutory compliance.
Skills and Experience
- Senior management experience in waste management environmental services or related local authority roles.
- Proven senior leadership experience at Head of Service level or above.
- Proven financial contract management and strategic leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving analytical and communication abilities.
