Job Summary and Responsibilities
Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for utilizing training and skills to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician in a clinic setting.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage patients in a collaboration with the cardiothoracic surgeons providing specialty care to patients with acute and chronic problems in a clinic setting.
- Perform inpatient rounds on weekends on a rotational basis.
- Collect data pertinent to the patie4tns status.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and promotes a positive work environment.
- Perform physical exams (within establishedprotocol.)
- Diagnose treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines).
- Order diagnostic tests.
- prescribe or recommend medications for treatment(within protocol guidelines).
- Promote positive lifestyle habitsto all patients through education and counseling.
- Maintain patients privacy and confidentiality.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Graduate from an accredited Advanced Practice Nursing program.
License/Certification:
- Current/valid APN license from the state licensing board.
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
Experience:
- 1 year previous experience as an NP in an acute care setting or equivalent RN experience.
