The City of Thompson is seeking an Equipment Operator I. The duties include receiving written or oral instructions checking equipment for fuel oil water coolants and lubricants and reporting any irregularities. The role involves operating equipment for snow removal and various material handling tasks related to the maintenance construction or operations of City of Thompson facilities. Additionally the position involves directing and assisting helpers in street cleaning sanding steamer operations and garbage disposal as well as transporting personnel materials and equipment as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid Class 1 Manitoba Drivers License with Air Brake Endorsement
- Ability to operate all equipment as per the job description with specific emphasis on Motor Grader Excavator Semi-truck and Hydrovac.
- Ability to receive understand and apply written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with other employees.
- Ability to effectively work unsupervised for extended periods of time.
- Availability for shift work if scheduling requires.
