Teleworking is available on Monday Tuesday and Friday and this team reports to 1575 Sherman Street on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. This can be subject to change based on team needs or other special events that may occur

About the Division of Child Welfare:

The Child Protection and Prevention Services (CPPS) unit carries the responsibility to provide supervisory oversight of
the county departments child protective services programs which include intake child abuse investigations institutional abuse investigations and child fatality reviews. This unit sets policies and procedures for 64 county departments of human/social services. Also the unit provides administration of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) grant and the Childrens Justice Act (CJA) grant and ensures compliance with federally required activities programs and reports included in CAPTA and other federally funded granted programs. Activities include the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) human trafficking of minors and mandated citizen review panels. The unit also has the responsibility to develop and monitor processes for child/youth eligible for prevention services and provides supervisory oversight of county-level development of services to prevent penetration into the child welfare system specific to services that reduce the likelihood of out-of-home placement. The unit works closely with other prevention programs to align prevention services.


Description of Job

Purpose Position:
This position provides program and administrative support to the Child Protection and Prevention and Youth Services Unit staff and Managers. This position leads manages and coordinates the day-to-day DCW Complaint Process. This position provides other Division of Child Welfare/Office of Children Youth and Family programs and administrative assistance duties as assigned

Job Duties:

Child Protection and Prevention Units/Division/Office General Support -

  • Provide administrative support for 15 Child Prevention and Protection Unit staff including the Unit Manager.

  • Interpret and/or explain program specific policies processes and other guidelines.

  • Coordinate procurement related activities processes and policies including purchase orders payment vouchers etc.

  • Create revise and implement unit policies related to workflow coverage correspondence and timeliness . Organize and establish work processes to provide support to management.

  • Manage unit P-card.


DCW Complaints and Processing
-
  • Lead manage and coordinate the day-to-day DCW Complaint Process.
  • Develop and maintain complaint tracking process
  • Evaluate the efficiency of the established processes
  • Design and update process for Complaint Process
  • Record complaints daily
  • Ensure that complaint records are always up to date and saved digitally
  • Analyze data related to the complaint process
  • Gather data from complaint tracking sheet
  • Report on the number and type of complaints
  • Prepare Data Summary
  • Collaboration with Division Deputy Director County Intermediary Administrator County Intermediaries CPP Unit Manager County and County Staff to identify process improvement opportunities
  • Ensure the successful implementation of the complaint processes

Child Protection and Prevention Unit Support -
  • Child Protection and Prevention Unit Support for the Child Protection Task Group
  • Differential Response Leadership Council; Substance Use Disorder and Substance Exposed Newborn
  • Human Trafficking Task Group; Childrens Justice Act Task Group
  • Child Welfare Prevention Task Group (CWPTG);
  • Core Services Program
Other Duties as Assigned-
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support department and division objectives.
  • Other Division of Child Welfare program and administrative assistant duties as assigned.
  • Provide backup assistance to other support staff when they are out of the office when requested.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only:

Five (5) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

Or

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to five (5) years


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in working in the Colorado Child Welfare system.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Conditions of Employment:
  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and explain why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
