Summary:

The Fourth Judicial District is pleased to accept applications for a Court Operations Supervisor for the Court Reporter Unit (CRU).

The Court Operations Supervisor will work closely with the Court Reporter Unit Manager to provide division oversight consistent leadership and expectations and supervisory coverage. This position will primarily be responsible for supervising Court Reporters and overseeing district wide scheduling of the Court Reporter Unit.

The Court Reporter Unit is located on the 8th floor of the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis. However some travel within Hennepin County is required. Hours for this position are generally 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; supervisors are expected to be flexible according to business needs. This position is currently working both remotely and in-person so access to reliable internet is required.

Example of Duties:

  • Plan coordinate supervise and review the functions and daily operations of a team of court reporters in the Court Reporter Unit and establish clear expectations workloads and schedules to meet division goals and ensure efficiency

  • Select coach mentor develop and evaluate the performance of staff according to set standards; ensure timely completion and maintain accurate performance and time-keeping records; and act as an effective role model to staff in all areas

  • Collaborate with supervisors and managers to develop recommend and implement new policies and procedures to comply with current rules regulations and statutes as they pertain to the division; simplify work processes so that the division operates more efficiently

  • Oversee the scheduling of court reporters and all district court hearings

  • Provide backup supervisory coverage as needed in the areas of scheduling and technical operations to ensure business needs are efficiently met

  • Participate in district and/or statewide leadership groups

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an approved high school or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a court or legal setting or other supervisory experience in a fast-pace high-volume and technology-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of a bachelors degree
  • Demonstrated experience developing managing and adjusting complex schedules in a fast-paced or high-volume environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment when responding to last-minute changes or staffing challenges
  • Strong understanding of operational workflows and the ability to balance competing priorities deadlines and staffing needs
  • Experience using scheduling software case management systems or other workforce management tools
  • Proven ability to analyze workload data trends and coverage needs to support efficient staffing decisions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with leadership staff and stakeholders
  • Experience coaching mentoring and providing performance feedback to staff
  • Experience working in a court system government agency or other highly regulated environment

Minimum License / Certifications

  • Must become certified as an Electronic Recording Equipment Operator (EREO) within one year of hire

Supplemental Information:

The Court Reporter Unit (CRU) model represents a highly unique and effective approach to upholding the integrity of the official court record by employing innovative technology relating to digital recording equipment in addition to a highly skilled team of stenographic and electronic court reporters.

The CRU is responsible for the coordination of court reporter coverage for Hennepin County District Court; the operation and maintenance of the digital recording system and technology; the development and implementation of related training and outreach; as well as creating and preserving the official record and processing audio and transcript requests.

Salary Range:
The expected starting salary range for external candidates is $34.40 (range minimum) - $43.83 (range midpoint) per hour ($71827 - $91517 annually). The full salary range for this position is $34.40 (range minimum) - $53.25 (range maximum) per hour ($71827 - $111186 annually).

This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible forState of MN employee benefits.
