Salary Range:$92151.00 - $115189.00 per annum

Hiring Range: $92151.00 - $103670.00 per annum

The corporate/commercial Senior Law Clerk provides expert legal support within the Legal Services role sits within the Business Law Practice Group and supports contract review and drafting leads legal searches and analysis mentors junior law clerks supports Peel Regions local housing corporation with corporate filingsand ensures the delivery of high-quality legal services across the corporation

What Youll Do:

  • Interpret and apply relevant legislation impacting corporate/commercial matters.
  • Draft review and coordinate legal documents agreements and municipal contracts.
  • Provide mentorship guidance and informal supervision to junior law clerks.
  • Support Regional boards and controlled corporations through by-law drafting corporate filings and compliance activities.
  • Conduct legal searches (title corporate PPSA) and analyze documentation to support legal opinions and decision-making.
  • Advise internal clients on contract-related matters required consents assignments and corporate restructuring impacts.
  • Liaise with internal departments external stakeholders and legal counsel to resolve legal issues and support negotiations.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of legal documentation and maintain organized precedents contract tracking systems and legal files.
  • Stay current on legislative changes and apply updated legal knowledge to practice.

What the role requires:

  • Associate Member of ILCO or a recognized Ontario law clerk diploma/certificate (or equivalent approved by ILCO).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a law clerk in corporate/commercial law.
  • Advanced understanding of legal principles and applicable statutes within the designated practice area.
  • Proven ability to manage organize and track large volumes of complex legal documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret legislation identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • High level of judgment accuracy and ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
