Reporting to the Manager Contract Maintenance and Support Services this position is involved in all aspects of the identification initiation review tendering and construction of municipal infrastructure environmental projects energy and process optimization operational activities and administers contracts within the Water and Wastewater Branch related to Public Works projects from commencement of project/proposal to final completion. This would include construction contract administration supervision and field inspections of all vertical and linear assets.
How you contribute to our organization:
- Manages coordinates and reviews the work of consultants hired by the Town to undertake engineering services for Water and Wastewater such as servicing and optimization studies investigations preventative maintenance inspections of major assets condition assessments of processes and equipment detailed designs cost estimates tender documents and designated substances surveys.
- Manages coordinates and reviews the work of contractors hired by the Town to undertake construction and maintenance services such as well rehabilitation tower and reservoir cleaning filter media replacements service connections watermain and sewer main replacements.
- Prepares Tenders Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Requests for Quotation (RFQ) documents reviews and evaluates submitted proposals/ quotations and participates in selection of RFP and RFQ awards.
- Prepares detailed designs cost estimates and/or tender documents for Town projects that are undertaken by staff or outside contractors.
- Prepares budget sheets for the Town s annual capital/operations program. Maintains monthly project status summaries for all active projects including financials project schedule etc.
What you bring to the team:
- Requires a 3-year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Environmental Technology or a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Requires Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation with Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians (OACETT) or Engineer in Training (EIT).
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
- Requires 3-5 years of experience in a relevant related position.
- Requires a valid Driver s Licence and access to a personal vehicle to be used for work purposes.
- Capable of interpreting complex documents construction drawings technical reports and contracts.
- Excellent written communication skills in order to author comments letters memos and reports to internal and external stakeholders the general public and Council.
- Problem solving skills required to deal with Consultants Contractors and members of the public to resolve issues. Provides direction as required.
Salary: $88512.84 to 110636.28 plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan
Hours: 35 hours per week 8:30 a.m- 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday
