The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring afull-timeWildlife ProgramManager. Key accountabilities:

  • Manage programsteam of wildlife rehabilitator staff seasonal interns and volunteers according to WHS supervisory process including staff development; team planning and processes communication and culture; supervision and scheduling; and hiring
  • Develop and execute strategic operating plan for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center that aligns with organizational needs and resources.
  • Consistently and positively communicate organizational and team strategic direction priorities values and key informationand connect the team to the organization.
  • Establish workplace environment within team and relationships and communication between team and other teams which exemplify WHS values.
  • Establish andmonitorrehabilitationprotocolsthat:
    • Providecarefor thousands ofinjured sick and orphaned wild animalsfrom over 100different speciesincluding threatenedandendangered species.
    • Comply withevolving federalstateand local regulationsincluding reporting requirements
  • Ensure customer service and partnership with the community providing guidance on human-wildlife coexistence and when tosafely and humanely intervene
  • Stay current onbest practices and trendsincludinganimal care emerging illnessesand regulatory changes.
  • Build andmaintainprofessional relationshipsand partners with internal stakeholderscommunity partnersregulatory agencies veterinary partnersand animal welfare partners
  • Oversee budget management and planning for theteam and program.
  • Partner with the Marketing and Communication teams to provide content tosharewith the community about WHSs wildlife work.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstratedteam management experience.
  • A State of Wisconsin Advanced License in Wildlife Rehabilitationis strongly preferred; ability to get licensed in an agreed upon timelinerequired.
  • Rehabilitation experiencein an urban setting and experience with small mammals and avian species preferred.
  • Ability to partner with clients staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated alignment with ourmission people-centered philosophy andorganizational values of compassion respect and kindness; innovation; professionalism; equity; and positive approach.
  • Abilityto navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work.
  • Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job which include stooping kneeling crouching crawling standing walking pulling lifting grasping and repetitive be ableto routinelylift and carryup to50pounds.
