Job Summary

The salary for this role is 34568 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance). Onsite working is expected for 5 days a week due to operational needs however we actively support requests for flexible working.

This role will be based in Culham Oxfordshire.

This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data. 

The Role

Are you ready to contribute to the future of energy We are seeking an Electrical Technician who will be carrying out maintenance repair and provision of upgrades/refurbishments to major parts of the MAST-U Electrical systems. Reporting to the Machine Control & Protection Team Leader the job holder will be primarily responsible for providing technical assistance and project support to the Team. 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Building and testing C&I equipment from specified drawings at MAST-U.
  • Carrying out maintenance and repairs to electrical and C&I equipment at MAST-U.
  • Performing upgrades and refurbishments to the electrical and C&I equipment at MAST-U.
  • Providing technical assistance and project support as required. Identifying issues or faults and providing suggestions for solutions and/or improvements.
  • Installing electrical cabling fibre optics and assisting in the building of cubicles for required departments in MAST-U.
  • Being the Responsible Officer for the MAST-U CCTV providing weekly maintenance along with installations repairs testing and replacements when necessary.
  • Responsible for upgrades and refurbishments to the MAST-U CCTV servers.

Qualifications :

Essential Requirements: 

  • HNC in electrical or electronic engineering alternatively the successful completion of a suitable Apprenticeship scheme
  • Experience of working on electrical and control systems with a good understanding of safe working practices.
  • Have a flexible attitude to working on different projects on MAST-U.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels throughout the organisation (due to multilingual staff).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently as required.
