Job Summary

As an Electrical Technician you will participate under the guidance of engineers in the electrical and electronics development wiring and testing required for the upgrade of high-power radio frequency amplifiers their control and power supplies.

Your responsibilities:

In each area under the supervision of experienced technicians and engineers you will:

Modify or create schematics using Electronics and Electricity software (such as Cadence Altium Designer See Electrical or Eplan).
Dismount obsolete equipments and cables to prepare the upgrade of old systems.
Build wire and test electrical crates (and perhaps electronics boards).
Install and test various equipment (serviced or new) such as: power supplies control boards current sensors.
Be involved in the development wiring and testing of high-power radio frequency equipment (from electrical distribution through high voltage to control electronics).
Have the opportunity to receive training in various advanced techniques used in the field of high-power radio frequency: maintenance testing of RF systems and specific RF measurements.
Contribute to quality documentation and be fully integrated into the R&D team which includes engineers and students.
And as a member of the team you will also follow up the operation of the different RF systems of the section as part of an on-call service.

Your profile:

First or short experience allowed.
Proficient in Electrical wiring and assembling knowledge in Electronics would be valuable.

Strong willingness to learn and continuously improve.
Spoken and written English or French with a commitment to learn the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
By the application deadline you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electricité / Electronique (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
Applicants with a Bachelors Masters or PhD degree are not eligible.

Additional Information :

Job closing date: 13.02.2026 at 23:59 CET.

Contract duration: 24 months with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Job flexibility: Fully Onsite

Target start date: 01-February-2026

This position involves:

Work in Radiation Areas.
Interventions in underground installations.
A valid driving licence.
Stand-by duty when required by the needs of the Organization.
