Job Summary

As an Electrical Technician you will participate under the guidance of engineers in the electrical and electronics development wiring and testing required for the upgrade of high-power radio frequency amplifiers their control and power supplies.

Your responsibilities:

In each area under the supervision of experienced technicians and engineers you will:

  • Modify or create schematics using Electronics and Electricity software (such as Cadence Altium Designer See Electrical or Eplan).
  • Dismount obsolete equipments and cables to prepare the upgrade of old systems.
  • Build wire and test electrical crates (and perhaps electronics boards).
  • Install and test various equipment (serviced or new) such as: power supplies control boards current sensors.
  • Be involved in the development wiring and testing of high-power radio frequency equipment (from electrical distribution through high voltage to control electronics).
  • Have the opportunity to receive training in various advanced techniques used in the field of high-power radio frequency: maintenance testing of RF systems and specific RF measurements.
  • Contribute to quality documentation and be fully integrated into the R&D team which includes engineers and students.
  • And as a member of the team you will also follow up the operation of the different RF systems of the section as part of an on-call service.

Your profile:

  • First or short experience allowed.
  • Proficient in Electrical wiring and assembling knowledge in Electronics would be valuable.

  • Highly motivated dynamic and solution-oriented.
  • Strong willingness to learn and continuously improve.
  • Spoken and written English or French with a commitment to learn the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electricité / Electronique (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants with a Bachelors Masters or PhD degree are not eligible.

Additional Information :

Job closing date: 13.02.2026 at 23:59 CET.

Contract duration: 24 months with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Job flexibility: Fully Onsite

Target start date: 01-February-2026

This position involves:

  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • A valid driving licence.
  • Stand-by duty when required by the needs of the Organization.
