Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Steward the Food Waste and Sustainability Officer will lead the implementation and monitoring of sustainability initiatives within our food service operations. This role will focus on reducing food waste ensuring compliance with environmental health and safety (EHS) standards managing the Table des Chef program and managing data entry for ORBISK and GIAA. The successful candidate will work closely with the kitchen procurement team and operations teams to promote sustainable practices and achieve our waste reduction goals. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the:

Food Waste Monitoring and Reduction:

  • Track analyze and report on food waste data using ORBISK and GIAA.
  • Develop and implement action plans to reduce food waste across all operational areas.
  • Conduct regular audits of food waste and provide recommendations to reduce waste at the source.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to optimize menu planning and portion control strategies.

Table des Chef Program Management:

  • Manage and monitor the Table des Chef program to ensure its successful implementation.
  • Coordinate with local charities and organizations to facilitate food donations.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and handling guidelines during donation processes.
  • Track program impact and provide regular updates to leadership.

Data Entry and Reporting:

  • Manage accurate data entry into ORBISK and GIAA platforms.
  • Analyze trends in food waste data and prepare detailed reports for leadership.
  • Provide insights and actionable recommendations based on data analysis.

EHS Standards Compliance:

  • Ensure all food service operations comply with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Track and implement best practices to achieve and maintain EHS compliance.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on EHS policies and sustainability practices.

Sustainability Initiatives:

  • Develop and execute sustainability strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of sustainability programs and adjust as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and external sustainability organizations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work with purchasing team to source sustainable products and reduce packaging waste.
  • Engage employees at all levels to foster a culture of sustainability within the organization.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Experience in the food service industry preferably in a sustainability-focused role.
  • Proficiency in data entry and analysis using ORBISK and GIAA systems.
  • Knowledge of EHS standards and best practices.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable strategies.

Work Environment:

This position requires working in both office and kitchen environments. Occasional travel to various operational sites may be required.

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Frequent bending
