Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a Hypersonic Systems Assembly Integration and Test Mechanical Engineer to join our team supporting the Multi-Service Advanced Capability Hypersonics Test Bed (MACH-TB) Flight Test Program as part of the Hypersonics Systems Division. The focus of the MACH-TB Program is to develop rapid-cadence affordable flight-testing capabilities to quickly advance the Technology Readiness Level of our nations hypersonic technologies. To that end and as an integral member of the MACH-TB Team the successful candidate will develop flight test mechanical assemblies for various technologies methods conditions etc. The selected candidate will interface directly with AIT leads program management military and other government personnel and a team of multi-discipline design and development engineers both internal and external to support the programs complex and thorough test and evaluation requirements. The candidate must be able to develop test and evaluation strategies utilizing models simulations analyses tests and demonstrations. A firm understanding of missile system architectures system interfaces performance requirements verification and validation techniques is essential for the role. The selected candidate will support presentation of the test plans and related artifacts they have developed to the customer in formal design reviews.

Basic Qualifications:

• Candidate must have High School Diploma and 10 years experience in mechanical engineering environment or similar technical field with 5 years of experience in flight test environment OR a Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering with 4 years experience in mechanical engineering environment.
• Candidate must have strong technical background in defense systems (or subsystems)
• Strong verbal and written skills along with a solid practical knowledge of complex missile or space systems system integration and associated testing is required
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with senior leadership (internal/client) on matters of strategic importance to the organization/project
• Capability of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams
• Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information
• Candidate must be a resident of North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville North Alabama area
• Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• A current DOD Top Secret clearance
• Experience creating detailed mechanical drawings and releases mechanical assembly integration and test planning
• Experience with prototype production efforts
• Experience with missile or hypersonic development flight testing and range safety
