Here at Torrens Global Education industry engagement is central to how we prepare students for real careers. Our Business Hospitality and Technology programs are built in partnership with industry to ensure students graduate with practical experience strong networks and real-world outcomes.

Were seeking an Industry Consultant to develop grow and manage industry partnerships across the Business Hospitality and Technology faculty. Reporting to the Industry Engagement Manager this role focuses on securing Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities employment pathways live briefs internships and identifying broader partnership opportunities that directly support Torrens Universitys commitment to student employability.

This role is ideal for someone with a recruitment business development partnerships or L&D background who thrives on relationship building networking and creating mutually beneficial outcomes for industry and education.

the role

As an Industry Consultant youll leverage your industry network to source develop and nurture partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for students and alumni. Youll work closely with academics employability teams and business leaders to ensure there are sufficient placements projects and employment pathways to meet curriculum and cohort needs.

This is a highly relationship-driven role that blends recruitment-style sourcing partnership management and stakeholder engagement. You will be required to attend to campus (either our Surry Hills campus in Sydney or our Fortitude Valley campus in Brisbane).

What youll own & deliver

This role is a very exciting one in the organisation. You will be constantly engaging on:

1. Industry Relationship Management

  • Build manage and nurture partnerships across professional corporate hospitality and technology sectors.
  • Maintain regular relationship touchpoints through meetings site visits events and industry forums.
  • Represent Torrens Global Education at relevant industry and professional association events.

2. Work Integrated Learning & Student Opportunities

  • Secure quality internships placements live briefs and project-based learning opportunities aligned to curriculum requirements.
  • Ensure sufficient opportunities are available to meet cohort demand across Business & Technology disciplines.
  • Collaborate with academics to identify upcoming needs and mitigate placement risks.
  • Support student and alumni employment pathways

3. Industry Collaboration & Ecosystem Development

  • Connect industry partners with relevant internal teams including Employability Academics Careers Alumni and Social Enterprise.
  • Identify mutually beneficial collaboration opportunities such as guest speaking curriculum consultation industry projects and recruitment initiatives.
  • Support industry-led engagement activities that enhance student participation and real-world exposure.

4. Systems Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain accurate records of industry engagement activity within CRM and internal systems.
  • Track WIL with check ins with Industry Contacts placement and employment outcomes to support reporting and quality assurance.

Experience & Background

  • Strong industry experience within Business Technology or a related sector.
  • Background in recruitment early careers business development partnerships L&D or employer engagement highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated success securing internships placements or employment opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment practices and industry workforce needs.
