We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Emergency Room Physician Assistant (PA) to provide high-quality patient-centered medical care in a fast-paced emergency department setting located in Gallup NM 87301. The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with Emergency Medicine Physicians nurses and allied health professionals to evaluate diagnose and treat patients presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses injuries and medical emergencies. This role emphasizes rapid clinical decision-making patient safety and excellence in emergency care delivery.
Provide prompt assessment diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with acute medical conditions and traumatic injuries.
Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations in high-acuity and low-acuity situations.
Order interpret and review laboratory tests imaging and diagnostic studies.
Initiate and manage treatment plans including medication administration wound care splinting suturing and other procedures within scope of practice.
Assist in the management of critical and unstable patients in collaboration with the supervising Emergency Medicine Physician.
Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses treatment plans and discharge instructions.
Promote patient understanding of medications follow-up care and return precautions.
Deliver compassionate culturally sensitive care in stressful and time-sensitive situations.
Work closely with physicians nursing staff EMS personnel and ancillary departments to ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
Facilitate appropriate admissions transfers and specialty consultations as clinically indicated.
Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and case reviews.
Maintain accurate timely and thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
Ensure compliance with hospital policies state regulations and federal healthcare standards.
Engage in continuing medical education (CME) and ongoing professional development in emergency medicine.
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current NCCPA certification.
Board Certified / Board Eligible Physician Assistant.
Active unrestricted PA license (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of New Mexico.
DEA certification for prescribing controlled substances.
Strong clinical assessment procedural and critical thinking skills.
Experience in emergency medicine urgent care or high-acuity clinical environments.
Proficiency in emergency procedures such as suturing splinting airway support and trauma assessment.
Familiarity with EHR systems and emergency department workflows.
Ability to remain calm focused and effective in high-pressure situations.
