Lower Middle Market Underwriter Commercial Lines
Job Summary
The Lower Middle Market Underwriter Commercial Lines is responsible for underwriting and managing a multiline commercial portfolio within established underwriting authority and guidelines. This role focuses on profitable growth disciplined desk management and strong agency relationships while supporting production goals through collaboration with business development partners. The position requires sound technical underwriting judgment strong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite multiline commercial accounts including Package Umbrella Workers Compensation Auto and ancillary lines in accordance with established underwriting authority and referral guidelines
- Ensure compliance with underwriting strategy audit standards and internal controls
- Identify and pursue cross-sell opportunities to increase revenue per account including Property & Casualty Financial Lines Cyber Accident & Health and other applicable products
- Partner closely with Business Development Managers to support agency growth initiatives and production opportunities
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with assigned agency partners to drive profitable growth
- Manage an assigned book of business with a disciplined approach to desk management production planning and forecasting
Qualifications / Requirements
- 24 years of commercial lines underwriting experience
- Demonstrated ability to apply technical underwriting analysis to profitably grow new business
- Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
- Proven record of teamwork integrity and accountability
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic fast-paced environment
- Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience
Preferred:
- Prior package underwriting experience
Compensation Package
- Compensation: $85K$130K base salary (depending on experience)
- Annual bonus opportunity
- Discretionary paid time off plan
