Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor the PT Facilities Plumber Pipefitter will provide licensed plumbing services to the University in accordance with state and local plumbing codes. This includes plumbing systems inspection maintenance and repair pumps fixtures portable water systems meters industrials and sanitary waste systems irrigation and laboratory facilities. The Facilities Plumber Pipefitter will prioritize safety and communication in their work and have working knowledge of all federal and state safety regulations. The Facilities Plumber Pipefitter must be able to interpret and follow building plans and drawings. This is a part-time position working approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A high school diploma or equivalent and minimum of 5 years of commercial/industrial plumbing experience is required. Journeyman license is required Master plumbing license is preferred. Experience in a University setting preferred. Must possess strong knowledge of other building trades and preventative maintenance experience; must have strong skills in organization and communication and possess great customer service. Valid Georgia drivers license and insurable driving record is required.
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
The Facilities Plumber must have basic knowledge of general maintenance; must be able to objectively troubleshoot problems and assemble install repair pipes fittings and fixtures of heating systems water systems and drainage in accordance to specifications and plumbing codes. Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work well with supervisors coworkers the University community and the public.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Majority of the tasks associated with this position will be performed indoors at multiple campus locations or buildings. Some duties will require the ability to function with exposure to seasonal weather conditions. May have exposure to potential hazards. Ability to stand bend stop kneel reach lift pull push and walk for a minimum of three hours. Also must possess the ability to lift at least 45 lbs. using safe lifting techniques.
