Job Summary

Job Title: Maintenance I - Carpenter

Job Type: Full-time Permanent (40 hours/week 12 months/year)
Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (as determined by supervisor)
Location: Cobourg Maintenance Shop - Lakeshore East - 300 Alexandra Drive Cobourg ON
Salary: $32.85 - $36.50 per hour (Pay Band 9D MV-2)
Start Date: TBD

About the Position:
The purpose of the MAINTENANCE I - CARPENTER position is to provide architectural carpentry services to the system. This is a unionized position.


Qualifications Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate of Qualification - Carpenter
  • Minimum 6 months of experience as a carpenter.
  • Valid Ontario G-level drivers license and use of own vehicle
  • Building code knowledge is considered an asset
  • A commitment to service excellence

Note: A Successful Functional Abilities Assessment must be completed prior to beginning the position as a condition of employment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Installs inspects maintains and repairs architectural building components.
  • Repairs playground equipment.
  • Installs replaces maintains and repairs various flooring wall and ceiling systems doors frames roofs windows and hardware.
  • Installs refurbishes and relocates chalkboards tack boards appliances and cabinets.
  • Repairs to exterior buildings and grounds by removing trees and installing signs portable decks and steps skirting cold patch and fences.
  • Construction of rooms buildings cabinets and furniture.
  • Investigates identifies and rectifies problems such as water ingress building envelope deficiencies.
  • Inventories supplies to stock department.
  • Replaces maintains and repairs building exteriors and site components.
  • Identifies and makes recommendations for Supervisors assessment of items to be included in maintenance budgets for normal repair and energy conservation.
  • Responds to emergency calls regarding vandalism roof leaks and storm damage.
  • Liaises with head custodians principals and contractors in doing repairs and maintenance.
  • Checks stocks and operates a board vehicle.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.


Supervision:
This position does not supervise.


Working Conditions:

Primary work location will mainly be the Cobourg Shop located at the Lakeshore East Location (300 Alexandra Drive Cobourg ON) however frequent travel is required of this position on a daily basis using Board/Employer vehicle throughout the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. School and outdoor environment; change from indoor to outdoor temperatures some inclement weather some pressure to meet deadlines; moderate travel. Primary work location may be discussed with Manager.
