ABOUT THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT:

Rancho Cucamongas Economic Development Department is expanding. The Citys Parking Services function is now being integrated into the Department. As a result the City is seeking a supervisor to manage Parking operations while also playing a key role in shaping its future.

The Economic Development Department serves as a liaison between the City and the business community. It is responsible for encouraging business investment opportunities as well as supporting activities related to business retention expansion and attraction in Rancho Cucamonga. The team is dedicated to driving the local economy enhancing the economic vibrancy and sustainability of our City and improving the quality of life for our residents and businesses.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING HERE AT TEAM RC

Youll be responsible for:

  • Patrolling city streets and city owned parking facilities identifying vehicles parked illegally and issuing parking violation notices.
  • Tracking summarizing and reporting citation developments and trends including the number type and location of parking citations issued.
  • Responding to complaints and conducting field investigations of posted signage.
  • Operating a vehicle two-way radio handheld computer and other miscellaneous tools such as a chalk-stick flashlight barricades cones etc.; may ride a bicycle.
  • Maintaining equipment and adhering to safe operating procedures.
  • Requesting confidential data from the Department of Motor Vehicle records in the course of issuing parking violations and investigating parking-related complaints. Approving and processing parking permits and other temporary parking exemptions.
  • Acting as an observer on behalf of the City of Rancho Cucamonga and reporting traffic accidents abandoned vehicles missing/vandalized signage miscellaneous municipal code violations and traffic hazards encountered in the course of work. Authorizing and coordinating towing of improperly parked vehicles.
  • Responding to miscellaneous inquiries from the public and City staff.
  • Performing special assignments upon request to support other law enforcement actions such as traffic control language interpretation and witnessing. Providing witness testimony at administrative and court citation hearings.
  • Helping to establish policies for the Citys parking function.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience:

Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent and at least three years experience in parking enforcement with frequent direct contact with the public; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of lead or supervisory experience is desirable.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of or ability to lead and instruct personnel. Ability to develop work schedules and assignments. Ability to track employee attendance and work performance. Ability to prepare and present reports. Ability to communicate and deal tactfully and effectively with members of the public and staff. Ability to write clear accurate and comprehensive incident reports. Ability to learn the operation of a motor scooter. Ability to learn understand and apply City and State parking laws codes and regulations. Ability to learn understand and comply with department policies and procedures and standard radio communication procedures. Basic computer skills standard business software and ability to learn to use a handheld computer and citation devices. Ability to identify parking and traffic problems encountered in the course of work. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other City staff. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain records. Ability to perform assigned duties independently with indirect supervision.

Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid Class C California drivers license and comply with the Citys motor vehicle safety policies during the course of employment.
