About the Role
DePaul House (DPH) provides ongoing specialist treatment and support to meet the identified needs of clients who have significant Substance use issues and related comorbities and require a withdrawal service. This is a state-wide service. DPH practises a Recovery orientated approach using the Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice the position through day to day care works and other activities will actively contribute to the development and implementation of this model.
Coordinate and manage the shift to ensure the provision of high quality consumer-focused care
Monitor physical withdrawal and respond with protocol medication
Provide leadership act as a role model to staff and coordinate the allocation of resources on the shift to meet the needs of consumers
Work within the Strengths Model of Recovery Orientated Practice
Conduct comprehensive assessments including biopsychosocial assessment and formulate and implement treatment plans; Support intake
Deliver & Coordinate group based programs and activities within the unit
Develop responsive and accessible services and continuity of care through effective links and liaison with other relevant services
There will be a requirement to work a night shift roster.
Classifications for this position will be YY4 ($116760 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
Certificate Diploma or Degree in General Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in Division 1 or 3
Current practicing certificate (AHPRA registration)
Post registration qualification in AOD and or MH (or relevant overseas qualifications)
A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check or willing to obtain

The unit provides a medically managed detoxification from a variety of substances including THC Alcohol methampethamine etc. Clients can stay up to 10 days. Depaul House is part of St Vincents Department of Addiction Medicine. The Department of Addiction Medicine (DoAM) St Vincents Hospital Melbourne strives to be a key centre for the community in relation to alcohol and drugs - strong and relevant in response working in a number of domains including clinical practice research that is directly translatable education and training (at undergraduate postgraduate and community levels) and advocacy and policy at both institutional level and more broadly.

Under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager to provide clinical leadership to nursing staff on the shift and coordinate and manage the shift to ensure the provision of high quality consumer focused care over a 24 hour rostering period. There will be a requirement to work a night shift roster. Rostering allocation of the ANUM position will be dependent on the operational requirements of the DPH Unit. The ANUM will work collaboratively within DPH with consumers carers and a range of community service providers.

All clinical staff are expected to be familiar with and practice in a manner consistent with the state & National Practice Standards for them.

Provides culturally and clinically competent mental health care that ensures culturally inclusive service delivery
Contribute to the development of policies and procedures for the service
Actively participate in quality improvement activities
Assist in the management of allocated resources within the unit budget
Maintain all documentation in line with SVMH policies
ESSENTIAL REGISTRATION LICENSE OR QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Certificate Diploma or Degree in General Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in Division 1 or 3
Current practicing certificate (AHPRA registration)
Post registration qualification in AOD and or MH (or relevant overseas qualifications)
OTHER ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of three years post qualification experience in drug & alcohol or mental health
Able to provide services to people with serious substance use issues & mental illness and demonstrated skills in engaging consumers with complex needs
Committed to working collaboratively with consumers carers members of the multidisciplinary team and external agencies
Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive assessments including biopsychosocial assessment and formulate and implement treatment plans
Good working knowledge of the relevant AOD legislation and Mental Health Act 2014 other relevant legislation including current national and state policy directives in the delivery of AOD health services
