City Capital are currently representing a well-funded & growing short-term property finance lender who have retained our services to appoint an ambitious and proactive Senior Underwriter/Head of Underwriting at a truly exciting time for the firm.

The Company

Our client is an established and highly respected bridging finance lender experiencing exciting growth. They offerfast bespoke short-term lendingto developers and investors and have done so withgreat successfor more than a decade in the market.

The company is led by founders and senior professionals with decades of experience in property investing lending and development. The team have an extensive track record in structuring and executing complex property-backed finance & offer a highly progressive & collaborative culture.

Critically they have recently secured a sizeable institutional funding line which will drive significant growth and expansion in the coming period. This also includes other activities to drive further investment for growth highlighting a clear ambition to be a leading player in the market.

Due to planned growth and the expansion of the loan book they are activelyseekingan experienced Senior Underwriter/Credit Manager/Head of Underwriting who will play a key role in the assessment and funding of larger more complex transactions.

Importantly they are looking for someone to step up to Head of Underwriting once settled in the business and confident in how itoperates.

Role Overview

The role would commence in a Senior Underwriter/Senior Credit capacity with a view to progressing to Head of Underwriting once you haveestablishedyourself and confident in how our clients lending principles and funding linesoperate.

This means initially you will play a key role in supporting the lendersassessment and decision making in respect to loan enquiries with a particular focus on larger and more complex transactions. Bridging loans range up to 10m with higher value loans considered on their merits.

Thereforeyour experience in managing such deals will be critical to the team in those early phases of loan book growth. Throughout you will play a key role as guide and mentor to junior underwriting and credit professionals whilst being a key liaison for other business areas such as sales. It is expected you will add real value to the credit committee also.

Where successful andestablishedas Head of Underwriting you will continue to playan important roleinkey aspects of loan assessment and decision making but will be focussed also on building a team in scale with the companies on growth. You will oversee all aspects of the underwriting function andearly loan cycle and will play a critical role in loan completions and the ongoing success of the loan portfolio.

Due to the nature of how this works this also gives you an opportunity to really shape and define the Head of Underwriting role as your own as you step up from within.

Candidate Requirements

• An experienced bridging finance UW with 6-10 years experience
• An excellent understanding of the credit principles that underpin strong bridging lending
• An individual who is either experienced in managing or mentoring junior UW staff
• Knowledge ofregulationspertaining toAML/KYC and regulated vs unregulatedlending
• An excellent attention to detail and highly numerical
• A confident communicator able to work with internal and external loan stakeholders
• Ambitious and keen to grow with the firm

On Offer

Our client are ideally looking to pay between c70k - 90k as a basic salary for theinitialSenior Underwriter appointment. Higher offers may also be considered for exceptional talent and offers will be relevant to experience.

Salary will be complemented by access to our clients favourablebonus and benefits scheme too to boost annual income.

It is expected that as you are ready to step in to the Head of Underwriting role internally that a salary review will be undertaken allowing you opportunity to propel both salary and career standing forward within as you grow within the business.

This is a hybrid role split between our clientsLondon office (key for collaboration and building the team) and home.
