Applications are invited for appointment asTenure-Track Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery School of Clinical Medicine(Ref.: 534129) to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Surgery or related disciplines witha strong track record in urology research in particular on genetic epidemiology genetic functional study and clinical translational research for prostate cancer and other urological diseases. They should have leadership and evidence of international standing outstanding achievements in high-quality research as indicated by publication record and external grants and demonstrated ability to work across disciplines towards new research initiatives that fit with the Departments research areas. They should also show a strong commitment to undergraduate andpostgraduate teaching.
The appointee is expected to conduct independent and collaborative scholarly research and attract competitive grantsto maintain active research programmes. He/She will take part in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and supervise research postgraduate students. He/She is also expected to perform administrative duties. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates salary tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
