The opportunity

As a Backend Software Engineer (ColdFusion) youll join our Engineering SMS (Global Squad) team working on the back-end systems that power our core products. This role has a strong focus on ColdFusion and Node development building and maintaining robust APIscreating new microservices improving system performance and evolving legacy components using modern engineering practices.

Your squad is predominantly front-end Engineers who work closely together with design and product. Youll be working within the squad to help advance key new products by evolving back-end APIs both new (Node microservices) and existing (ColdFusion monolith).

Youll collaborate closely with Product Managers and fellow engineers to design scalable solutions contribute to architectural decisions and continuously improve how we deliver reliable secure software. Your expertise will play a key role in shaping the future of our platform.

What youll do

ColdFusion and Node development Design build and optimise back-end services using ColdFusion and

API-first engineering Develop and maintain secure scalable APIs aligned with OpenAPI standards

Performance & scalability Improve application performance reliability and maintainability across core systems

Code quality Write clean well-structured code supported by automated tests

Technical collaboration Work with Product Managers and engineers on system design and architecture

Agile delivery Contribute to sprint planning stand-ups retrospectives and technical design sessions

Engineering standards Participate in code reviews QA processes and shared engineering metrics

Continuous improvement Identify opportunities to modernise ColdFusion codebases tooling and practices

About you

Youre an experienced ColdFusion/ engineer who enjoys working on meaningful long-lived systems and takes pride in well-designed back-end solutions.

Youll bring:

• Minimum 5 years experience in software development
• Strong commercial experience with ColdFusion and/or Node in production environments
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science Information Technology or similar
• Solid experience designing and working with relational databases for web applications
• Proven experience building API-first applications using OpenAPI
• Working knowledge of HTML CSS and JavaScript (desirable)
• Exposure to JavaScript frameworks such as React (desirable)
• Experience working within agile software engineering teams
• Familiarity with Git version control and Jira (or similar tools)
• Strong problem-solving skills attention to detail and a collaborative mindset
