Job Summary

The Specialist Procurement Ground Services Equipment (GSE) is responsible for strategic sourcing and procurement of GSE fleet assets spare parts components oils lubricants batteries tires and maintenance supplies across Cargojets network.

This is a hands-on role requiring solid procurement and contract management knowledge with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in day-to-day procurement activities including purchase order creation document drafting and data creation and analysis

The Specialist coordinates with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to identify and resolve procurement contractual pricing or delivery-related issues. The role supports vendor negotiations in partnership with the Director of GSE Finance and Station Managers to execute procurement strategies that minimize costs while maintaining quality and supply security.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Support:

• Execute the sourcing and procurement of GSE equipment (tugs loaders forklifts ground power units cargo handling equipment) and associated spare parts components oils lubricants batteries and tires.
• Conduct market analysis identifying qualified suppliers competitive pricing and cost optimization opportunities.
• Establish preferred supplier networks ensuring competitive pricing reliable supply and emergency equipment support.
• Support the development of annual procurement plans aligned with GSE fleet expansion replacement cycles and operational requirements.
• Perform make-vs-buy analysis for GSE component repairs refurbishment and replacement decisions.

Vendor Management & Contract Management:

• Support contract negotiation with GSE OEMs dealers distributors and aftermarket suppliers securing favorable pricing warranty terms and delivery schedules.
• Manage day-to-day vendor interactions related to pricing delivery documentation warranty terms and service issues.
• Conduct supplier performance reviews monitoring delivery quality pricing and service responsiveness.
• Manage vendor qualification processes ensuring suppliers meet quality safety and compliance standards.

Cost Optimization & Financial Management:

• Implement cost reduction initiatives through competitive bidding supplier consolidation and strategic negotiations.
• Analyze total cost of ownership for GSE assets including acquisition maintenance parts availability and residual values.
• Track procurement savings and cost avoidance reporting results to senior management.
• Partner with Finance on purchase order management invoice reconciliation and payment terms optimization.

Supplier Quality & Compliance:

• Maintain approved vendor list (AVL) for GSE suppliers ensuring qualified sources for critical equipment and parts.
• Monitor supplier quality metrics including defect rates warranty claims and return rates.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations for international GSE equipment and parts movements.

Inventory Planning & Parts Availability:

• Collaborate with Director of GSE on spare parts inventory planning and optimization.
• Establish stocking strategies for critical GSE parts balancing inventory investment with operational availability.
• Manage emergency procurement processes for equipment breakdown situations ensuring rapid parts sourcing and expedited delivery.
• Develop parts standardization initiatives reducing SKU complexity and improving inventory efficiency.
• Monitor parts obsolescence risks for aging GSE equipment securing long-term availability or identifying replacements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement:

• Partner with Director of GSE on fleet planning equipment specifications and replacement strategies.
• Coordinate with Station Managers on local supplier relationships and emergency parts sourcing.
• Engage with Inventory and Fixed Assets Controller on procurement processes and system integration.
• Optimize procurement workflows in SAP S/4HANA ensuring efficient requisition-to-payment processes.
• Maintain and support procurement KPIs related to cycle times cost savings and supplier performance.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration Engineering or related field
• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience with exposure to industrial procurement aviation industry experience preferred
• Strong work knowledge of contract management including commercial terms pricing structures warranty clauses and service agreements
• Proven track record negotiating complex contracts with OEMs and suppliers achieving measurable cost savings
• Demonstrated ability to work independently identify procurement or contractual issues and resolve them with minimal supervision.
• Experience coordinating with multiple internal stakeholders and external suppliers across locations.
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing category management and supplier relationship management
• Proficiency with SAP S/4HANA or equivalent ERP procurement modules
• Strong financial acumen including budget management total cost of ownership modeling and ROI analysis
• Strong negotiation skills securing favorable pricing terms and service levels
• Advanced Excel skills performing pivot tables cost models detailed comparisons scenario analysis
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Willingness to travel occasionally to vendor sites and stations (up to 15%)
