Whats the role
The Senior Infrastructure Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the Infrastructure Engineering team to deliver robust secure and scalable technology platforms that support Westpacs business objectives. The role will drive innovation operational excellence and continuous improvement across infrastructure services ensuring alignment with strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead mentor and develop a team of infrastructure engineers and specialists.
- Oversee the design deployment and lifecycle management of onpremises infrastructure.
- Ensure high availability performance and security across all infrastructure services.
- Drive automation standardisation and process optimisation initiatives.
- Manage vendor partnerships service contracts and commercial engagements.
- Collaborate with architecture security and application teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory risk and governance frameworks.
- Develop and manage budgets forecasts and workforce/resource plans.
What do I need
Essential:
- Over 10 years of experience in infrastructure engineering or related roles.
- Over 5 years of people leadership or managerial experience.
- Technical expertise across hardware virtualisation networking and storage technologies.
- Strong understanding of ITIL DevOps and automation tools.
- Proven track record delivering complex largescale infrastructure programs.
Desirable:
- Experience in financial services or highly regulated environments.
- Ability to build trusted relationships and engage confidently with senior leadership technical teams and external partners.
- Experience leading highperforming engineering teams in complex enterprisescale environments.
- Proven ability to set clear direction uplift team capability and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated success in influencing senior stakeholders shaping technology strategy and driving alignment across business and technology domains.
- Experience leading change initiatives modernisation programs or largescale transformation efforts.
