About the role
Were looking for an epic Lead Mobile Engineer with deep expertise in iOS native development and a product-obsessed mindset. This role requires a strong appetite for delivering a truly native mobile experience through a React Native codebase. As a leader you will drive an obsession with creating fast and beautiful user experiences alongside a deep focus on performance and improving the developer experience across the board.
Youll be hands-on and collaborative refining our ability to deliver a top-tier native mobile experience as we grow. Collaborating with our product and platform teams this engineer will be responsible for guiding our incredible mobile app into the place it needs to be. We care about how you think and act: curious thoughtful practical and someone who takes absolute ownership.
What youll do
- Lead the architecture and implementation of core features for the Halter app with a focus on deep native integration and components.
- Collaborate closely with our React front-end engineers guiding the domain to ensure a seamless and performant native mobile application.
- Bring a strong product lens-work with Design and Product to make smart trade-offs and ship high-impact mobile features fast.
- Use AI tools (e.g. Claude Cursor) to boost quality and speed without sacrificing readability or tests.
- Drive mobile app performance from every angle focusing on metrics and optimisations to deliver a quick user experience and have minimal impact on battery life.
- Build resilient flows and graceful error handling for real-world field conditions.
- Evolve our mobile design system and UI patterns.
- Raise the bar through reviews pairing and mentoring.
Youll thrive in this role if you
- Are deep in iOS native development and have strong opinions on mobile architecture and systems to deliver an optimal native experience.
- Experience and scars with App Store releases at scale design systems and mentoring mobile engineers.
- Experience with React Native understand how this maps to the iOS platform.
- Demonstrate an obsession with performance optimisation and improving DX for mobile engineers.
- Have shipped complex high-performance native iOS applications in cross-functional teams.
- Thrive in fast-moving ambiguous environments.
- Understand performance deeply accessibility testing and maintainability.
- A degree is a bonus not a requirement.
