About the Role

As the Client Navigatoryoullbe on the front line at SCCSSserving as a vital hub that connects walk-in clients and phone inquiries to the information resources and referrals they need.Youlluse a strengths-based approach to build trusting relationships that break down barriers to service providing assessment solution-focused support advocacy and hands-onassistance. In this roleyoullbe the go-to resource for both participants and staff helping people navigate available services and community connections. While thisisntan emergency service or case management positionyoullprovide crisis support when situations arise.Youllalso manage the Keeping People Housed Program helping individuals stabilize their rental housing during unexpected short-term financial challenges. This position reports to the LeadLead Volunteer Program and Navigation Services.

What Youll Do:

Connect and Support

  • Engage clients through strengths-based solution-focused conversations that remove barriers to accessing services
  • Apply risk reduction and crisis intervention skills including de-escalation techniques tomaintaina safe environment for everyone
  • Guide participants through the Complaints/Conflict Resolution process with information and support

Serve as the Knowledge Hub

  • Build andmaintaina comprehensive inventory of organizational resources making it easy for staff to share skillsexpertise and equipment
  • Act as SCCSSscentral informationsource keeping staff and volunteers updated on internal services community resources and available programs
  • Track emerging service needs and gaps in the community to help SCCSS stay responsive
  • Create and update a database of key services and resources complete with borrowing processes and systems to link needs with the right programs
  • Gather monthly updates on relevant resources services and active groups both within SCCSS and across the community.
  • Develop andmaintainan annual Asset Map of SCCSS services

Build Community Connections

  • Lead and organize presentations for the public and stakeholders to strengthen community relationships
  • Develop strong partnerships with related services including incomeassistance mentalhealthand addiction services andOpen Doorprograms
  • Manage the Keeping People Housed Program
  • Operate the program according to established procedures helping peoplemaintainhousing stability during financial challenges

Champion Best Practices

  • Co-facilitate bi-annual de-escalation training for staff
  • Uphold confidentiality standards ensuring signed consent before acting on behalf of participants
  • Maintain thorough documentation of allparticipantsencountersaccording to SCCSS standards
  • Support program development by helpingestablishaccountability mechanisms outcomes logic models and evaluation processes
  • Contribute to program reports statistics collection and maintenance of relevant documents

Organizational Support

  • Support SCCSSs mission vision and values through participation in organization-wide initiatives
  • Maintain ongoing compliance with accreditation standards and CARF requirements
  • Assistwith other duties as needed to support efficient operations

What You Bring:

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary diploma two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Competent computer skills includingmaintainingonline information systems communication databases and Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Deep understanding of the impacts of colonization including residential schools on Indigenous peoples
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of violence against marginalized individuals
  • Solid grasp of systemic societal issues through an anti-oppressive lens.
  • Ability to apply a feminist-based analysis of gender violence as it affects children women and trans individuals (an asset)
  • Commitment to trauma-informed practice and approaches

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills that keep information flowing and operations running smoothly
  • Strong conflict resolution abilities to navigate challenging situations with professionalism
  • Capacity to assess participant needs and risks through a solution-focused problem-solving lens
  • Skill inidentifyingand acting on priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across programs and with community partners.

Approach and Values

  • Experience working effectively and respectfully in a non-judgmental manner with clients from diverse cultures ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Experience with non-violent crisis intervention approaches particularly when supporting individuals facing mental health challenges (or is an asset)
  • Actively embody SCCSSs values in daily interactions fostering a culture of respect integrity and community care.

AdditionalInformation:

  • Criminal Record Check (CRC) clearance for working with vulnerable populations
  • First Aid Certification
  • Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle to attend meetings and events across the Coast
  • Role involves lifting and moving general office supplies and related equipment.
