This role involves leading a team dedicated to delivering exceptional social work and occupational therapy services in compliance with the Care Act 2014 and related legislation. As a leader you will manage the culture practice and performance of a team committed to supporting individuals independence and safety. You will exemplify professional standards and work collaboratively to create positive impacts and opportunities for residents and their families or carers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a diverse team of practitioners ensuring a focus on residents and legally sound practices.
- Ensure adherence to practice principles including strength-based trauma-informed and anti-racist approaches.
- Maintain compliance with legislative requirements and best practices particularly in safeguarding adults and mental capacity.
- Manage team performance against key performance indicators and departmental targets.
- Respond to Safeguarding Adult Reviews internal learning mechanisms FOI requests complaints and member inquiries.
- Represent the Council in legal proceedings and promote a culture of transparency and continuous improvement.
- Oversee effective team allocation and case prioritization in line with service objectives.
- Provide guidance and expertise to manage complexity and risk.
- Supervise staff with a focus on outcomes performance capability career progression and wellbeing.
- Ensure staff availability for unplanned events and collaborate with other teams for seamless service delivery.
- Manage employee-related matters including performance conduct and grievances.
- Monitor performance workloads and quality of assessments support plans and reviews.

- Proven leadership experience in social work or occupational therapy within adult social care.
- Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014 and related legislation.
- Ability to manage a diverse team and promote a positive inclusive culture.
- Experience in safeguarding adults and applying the Mental Capacity Act.
- Excellent communication skills for representing the Council in legal and public forums.
- Ability to manage performance and deliver against key performance indicators.
- Competence in handling complex cases and providing professional supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining high performance standards.
- Flexibility to work outside normal office hours as required.
