The Student Sports Centre Eindhoven (SCC)

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) has an impressive Student Sports Centre (SSC) which offers 15000 students and staff of TU/e and Fontys University of Applied Sciences Eindhoven extensive opportunities for sports exercise and socializing seven days a week. Most of the more than 80 sports and activities on offer take place at the universitys own facilities in the heart of the university addition external sports locations are also used for a specific part of the sports program.

Job description

Since August 2024 the SSC has been home to a lively café the Student Sports Café. This hospitality establishment is open seven days a week and has become the campus meeting place where people meet up student sports associations gather friendships are formed and campus users can enjoy a delicious lunch and evening meal.

The Student Sports Café has an enthusiastic and close-knit team consisting of a hospitality manager chef logistics manager and 25 student employees who work in the kitchen and behind the bar.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing meals served in the Sports Café. Jointly responsible for creating new dishes.
  • Jointly responsible for the customer experience translating customer wishes into a diverse international and healthy menu.
  • Coordination of processes in the kitchen: training and managing staff (student employees).
    • (Jointly) responsible for consistency in the preparation and presentation of meals.
    • (Jointly) responsible for complying with HACCP legislation and ensuring that it is integrated into the standard work processes in the kitchen.
    • (Jointly) responsible for standardizing work processes.
  • Providing catering for receptions meetings and events.
  • Performing cleaning tidying and/or minor maintenance tasks and monitoring student employees compliance with these tasks.
  • In the absence of the head chef responsible for purchasing and placing orders.

Job requirements

  • You have completed a relevant MBO education (vocational education)
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Command of Dutch is an advantage.
  • Organizing your own work.
  • Customer-focused and results-oriented.
  • Able to work accurately and carefully.
  • Team player.
  • Willing to work flexibly when receptions events and tournaments take place including weekends.

Conditions of employment

An exciting position within an international yet personal university. You are right in the middle of the students on a green campus within walking distance of the central station. Besides beautiful architecture you will find varied workplaces and excellent sports facilities. We also offer you:

  • A monthly salary of minimum 3029 to maximum 3623 for full-time employment depending on your knowledge and experience (scale 6 collective labour agreementfor Dutch Universities).
  • Working hours are between 09:00-21:00 and are determined in consultation. A surcharge applies on weekends.
  • In addition to vacation pay a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
