DescriptionThis 6-month fixed-term opportunity supports the Business Services Centre (BSC) by assessing and reviewing the business processes that underpin operations ensuring internal controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively.
As a BSC Compliance Assurance Analyst youll contribute to compliance assurance reviews incident investigations sample-based testing and targeted improvement initiatives. The role works closely with stakeholders across Payroll Finance Risk Audit P&C and operational teams providing practical insights that strengthen governance risk management and compliance outcomes within a defined contract period.
This role suits someone with audit compliance or risk experience who can quickly embed into a complex environment and add value from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and review BSC business processes to confirm internal controls are fit-for-purpose and operating effectively
- Contribute to planning scoping and execution of compliance assurance reviews in line with the Group Assurance Framework
- Conduct fieldwork including process walkthroughs control and sample testing segregation of duties assessments and root cause analysis
- Support incident investigations including data collection analysis reporting and participation in close-out discussions
- Document findings clearly including risks root causes and practical recommendations
- Maintain issue and action registers tracking remediation progress and validating outcomes
- Partner with internal stakeholders across Payroll Finance Risk Audit P&C and operational teams
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assurance-related projects
- Operate in line with The Downer Standard Zero Harm commitments and sustainability requirements
What You Will Bring
- 23 years experience in audit compliance risk or payroll services ideally within a large or complex organisation
- Experience reviewing business processes internal controls and mitigating operational risk
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to identify root causes and practical solutions within processes and data sets
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and contributing to assurance discussions
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently manage priorities and deliver outcomes within a fixed-term timeframe
- Collaborative pragmatic approach with a focus on continuous improvement
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance Commerce Business Management or a related discipline (desirable not essential)
