Supervisor - Gas Meter Testing & Analysis

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location ranging from $84000 - $134000.
Job Summary
The Supervisor of Gas Meter Testing and Analysis is responsible for supervising activities of the Gas Meter shop in East Hartford CT and the review analysis and reporting of meter test data for Gas Meters for CNG and SCG. Responsible for meeting meter test schedules for annual periodic and complaint meter testing. Controlling the efficient cost-effective flow and storage of meters ERTs and regulators inventory to reduce the total life cycle costs and ensure meter availability. This position reports to the Manager of Logistics and Meter Services and will have cross OPCO responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides direction supervision instruction and feedback to work teams. Leads team members by example while encouraging them to share ideas and information openly takes a win-win approach to conflict resolution and the achievement of goals.
- Ensures Avangrid is not adversely exposed to risk or litigation regarding delivery and inventorytransactions. Ensures supplier agreements and deliveries support Avangrid goals and adhere to Avangrids Code of Conduct.
- Provides value-added information regarding Gas Meters and Regulators. Fosters cooperation within and across Avangrid Departments to achieve common goals.
- Ensures team training in the skills necessary to develop and function as a self-directed work team and provide the highest level of service to all departments.
- Leads efforts associated with customer notification and Gas Operations efforts to retrieve meters to attain annual meter accuracy testing targets.
- Ensures a safe clean workplace exists and that employees are knowledgeable of and follow safe work practices.
- Investigate new Gas metering technology.
- Support standardization efforts for Gas Meters Regulators and communication modules across Avangrid operating companies.
- Mentor and transfer Gas Meter and Regulator knowledge to newer Gas employees.
- Reviews scheduled work orders to identify required meters equipment and Meter Shop team resources. Establishes production/delivery/pre-assembly/ schedules to support work completion.
- Support gas company Meter Shop and Meter Reading including the Daily Demand Metering (DDM) systems and utilize analytical and technical abilities to analyze a high volume of daily data providing critical deliverables that have an immediate and high impact on the business operation of the company.
- Utilize all current and future systems related to data the metering environment and customer information.
- Apply effective analytical techniques and methods to produce statistically valid results.
- Understand and interpret requests for information and execute appropriate analysis to fulfill requests.
- Use information and other evidence to draw independent conclusions and make recommendations that support company objectives and recommendations. Execute and produceanalyses graphs reports and customized responses to service requests.
- Independently manage daily assignments of simple to moderate complexity; Implement creative and effective approaches to problem solving recommending process improvements as discovered.
- Deliver presentations of results in a clear and effective manner both internally and externally including to regulatory internal audit finance engineering and customer representatives.
- Maintain reports update charts or graphs complete tracking metrics and manage data in databases.
- Use various sources to track trend and correct meter data including meter reads customer bills billing data and interval data.
- Strong quantitative skills required along with a high attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Must make independent decisions take corrective actions issue billing data and rectify incorrect billing interval or meter reads data based on analysis and context of data with minimal supervision.
- Must ensure strict customer confidentiality.
- Requires strong communication skills to write reports present data create presentations and provide accurate concise data via discussions email or phone with both internal and external customers.
Required Qualifications
- 5 or more years of related field experience with bachelors degree in analytic discipline including but not limited to: Finance Mathematics Engineering Computer Science or Business preferred.
- 7 or more years of related field experience with associates degree in business management or related field experience preferred
- Knowledge of Gas Metering
- Knowledge of Gas Regulator applications
- Understanding of meter reading systems
- Experience with gas line installations and troubleshooting in the field.
- Must have some SAP experience and be able to perform query programming data extraction data cleansing and data analysis with analytical tools such as SAP SAS SPSS Access Excel SQL/Oracle or other similar programs.
- Knowledge of Gas materials and supply chain
