The Role

As the Dangerous Goods Regional Lead you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all dangerous goods regulations and safety standards within your assigned region supporting General Motors manufacturing and part distribution center operations.

What Youll Do

  • Develop implement and maintain regional dangerous goods policies and procedures in alignment with corporate guidelines and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of warehousing facilities to ensure adherence to dangerous goods storage handling and transportation requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to warehousing personnel on dangerous goods identification classification packaging labeling documentation and emergency response procedures.
  • Collaborate with logistics supply chain and EHS teams to optimize dangerous goods processes and mitigate risks
  • Manage and investigate incidents involving dangerous goods ensuring proper reporting and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Stay current with all applicable dangerous goods regulations (e.g. DOT IATA IMDG) and communicate updates and changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to prepare reports presentations and track compliance metrics.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects related to dangerous goods management and process improvement.

Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 2 years of experience in dangerous goods management preferably within a large-scale business environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of domestic and international dangerous goods regulations (e.g. DOT 49 CFR IATA DGR IMDG Code).
  • Strong understanding of warehousing operations and logistics processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) for data analysis reporting and communication
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and training skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • 10-20% domestic travel

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Logistics Environmental Health & Safety or related field

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week or other frequency dictated by their manager. The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role. This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
