Club Overview

Founded in 1927 St. Francis Yacht Club is steeped in over 90 years of yachting traditions. From the beginning St. Francis Yacht Clubs membership has included many of the Bay Areas most prominent citizens and greatest sailors. The Clubs annual regatta schedule is one of the most active in the world. Both physically beautiful and naturally demanding the Bay provides a racer with the ultimate in wind current and weather conditions for truly competitive exciting sailing.

Adjacent to the Marina District the clubhouse provides a boating and social venue for members and their guests featuring deep-water guest docks outstanding dining amenities and incredible vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay. The Club boasts a professional staff excellent dining rooms inviting bars and spectacular private party facilities not to mention extensive experience in accommodating regattas of all kinds and sizes.

In addition to the city-based clubhouse Tinsley Island is our private slice of paradise located 60 miles up the Delta from St. Francis Yacht Club. This 40-acre oasis is accessed by a Club-owned launch or private boat and offers a year-round getaway for our Members featuring dockage and houseboats on-island lodging and kitchen facilities a swimming pool small boat fleet for member use and a variety of other diversions in a rustic relaxing setting.

Position: Banquet Supervisor

Reports to: Banquets and Catering Director

Direct Reports: Banquet Staff

Type: Hourly Part time hours vary each week based on events

Pay: $30/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead supervise and coordinate banquet and event staff to ensure exceptional service standards are consistently met
  • Train mentor motivate and evaluate banquet team members to enhance performance and service quality
  • Oversee beverage bar and wine service in compliance with club standards and licensing regulations
  • Supervise event set-up execution and breakdown ensuring events run smoothly and according to specifications
  • Coordinate closely with culinary events and other operational departments to ensure seamless event delivery
  • Manage event logistics including staffing levels equipment allocation and inventory requirements
  • Monitor event timelines and ensure strict adherence to schedules and service flow
  • Inspect banquet venues service areas and equipment to ensure cleanliness quality and safety standards
  • Proactively identify and resolve operational issues guest concerns and service challenges during events
  • Maintain a professional presence and provide effective problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Supervise daily banquet operations and delegate tasks efficiently among team members
  • Assist with inventory control stock monitoring and ordering of supplies as required

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support other departments during peak periods or special events
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in banquet and event operations preferably in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong leadership abilities with a hands-on self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to lead train and motivate a team
  • Thorough knowledge of banquet setups service styles and beverage service standards
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality service to club members and guests
  • Flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays based on event requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; formal hospitality education or certifications preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Spanish-speaking skills are an asset but not required
