The Library Secretary provides secretarial support in an office environment. As a member of the schools administrative support team this role may also assist with any projects or tasks related to the goals objectives and programs of the building or department assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
Library:
- Maintains consistency of the library program in the absence of the Librarian
- Manages day-to-day operations of the circulation desk
- Ensures patron information is current in the circulation system; ensures patron privacy
- Processes electronic payment to update the students library account
- Collects check-in sort and shelve returned books; processes new materials and entersthem into the system
- Maintains appearance of both circulation desk and overall library environment
- Maintains patron records and lists of overdue accounts through the use of a librarymanagement system to enhance library services to meet school needs; tracks lost and overdue books through reporting
- Monitors student behavior in the library providing discipline as necessary
- Supports teachers and staff with lamination needs; troubleshoots lamination equipment whennecessary
- Manages the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) process
- Supports inventory and procurement of new and replacement resources; recommends newand replacement titles for purchase
- Supports inventory management of library supplies and resources; assists the Librarian withweeding and repairing damaged books as necessary
- Creates displays that promote literature and literacy and assists with readers advisory services
- Builds relationships with patrons to ensure the library program meets the needs of all
- visitors
- Remains current with technology provided by Library Services and supports patrons in usingthem; provides first level support for troubleshooting Library Services related technology problems
- Trains and monitors library student aides when necessary
- Attends professional development as available or requested
- Provides task progress updates to Librarian; performs other duties as assigned as they relateto supporting the library program
General:
- Maintains excellent customer service while managing the flow of students staff and parentsthrough a bustling counseling office in a thoughtful and courteous manner
- Updates and maintains student record management system; maintains accurate sign-in bookfor visitors of a specified department
- Organizes the flow of correspondence and other pertinent data establishes and maintains afiling system that provides for the efficient operation of the department while maintaining confidentiality
- Processes and completes records requests from other schools/institutions in a complete andtimely manner
- Prepares (organizes packages labels) for the transfer of files between departments/offices.
- Serves as back-up to other department secretaries as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned by School Administration

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of experience in an administrative role ideally within the Education industry
Preferred
- Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field
